Lots of space to roam around with kids with old building everywhere that you can actually go into and see how soldiers lived. We were there in the off season, so they didn't have much for reinactments but that was ok! Our 15 year old girls loved it! A little cool in March so wear a jacket since it right on Lake Ontario.

The fort started out as a French fort but wound up being in British hands and then the United States of America took it over. Get a history lesson and see the way the fort was back in the day. There are even soldiers walking around to talk to and see them fire their weapons.

The fort was originally built, rebuilt and expanded by the French over the 1678 to 1755 period. Lots of history to this place which is now a museum. This time due to Canada-USA border crossing COVID-18 restrictions, we could not cross from Canada to the USA to visit the fort .

We visited the fort some years ago and returned on this trip...incredible visit. The amount of detail in each of the buildings is compounded by the volunteers who are dressed in period clothing/uniforms and extremely knowledgeable. We visited on a Saturday and they had fife and drums, musket loading and shot, and bakers/cooking. Truly a place anyone can enjoy visiting for several hours. Parking is ample but with any principally outdoor activity walking and climbing stairs is required to truly enjoy the visit.

The fort is very interesting and has lots of nooks and crannies to explore. There are knowledgeable staff and guides in period costume at many points throughout the fort to tell stories and answer questions.
