The Gunks are one of our favorite outdoor climbing areas in the Northeast. The draw is due to the ease of access to many of the routes especially at the Trapps area. The climbing in the area is diverse and challenging for all skill levels....More

We did the blue trail and then down the swimming hole. Steep scrambling for the kids but they made it. Views were amazing and water was freezing!

Climb a rock wall or take a casual hike. Beautiful scenes of the mountains and the wildlife and wild flowers. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.

Hike the Gunks! The carriage road to see the climbers is worth it - 5 miles but an easy walk. Would have liked to see Minniwaska State Park but it was closed due to fire situation. Glad for the rain.

Great place for hikers, the geology of the Shawangunk Ridge is spectacular. Easy hiking opportunities for beginners with more difficult terrain available, too. Make it a point to go for the views, especially in the Fall.

Such an amazing place - love the energy in the Gunks and try to get up here as often as I can. So much to do and see in the area and I always wish I had more time.

We hiked up to the lookout and then walked around the loop trail. It was a beautiful, easy hike to do on our way out of town.

The hike to the waterfall isn't difficult at all. You can park to the right of the main entrance and it's a flat walk to the trailhead. You can walk along the river there and then come to the top of the waterfall and look... More
