The trail had me huffing & puffing, lol, but it was SOOO worth the hike up! It’s a steady gradual incline and a nice way to spend a morning or afternoon. The abandoned hotel is very cool to explore! When you get to the top...More

Since I'm an older, overweight man --- I found the hike quite taxing. However, I greatly enjoyed the workout. I just went a lot slower than walking on flat ground. Once I reached the top of the peak itself, the view was breathtaking, no pun...More

My fiancee and myself hike this trail every year when we come up to Woodstock. It is moderately difficult, can get very slippery at certain points but well worth it. Takes about an hour and a half to get to the top but you walk...More

Hike that is uphill for long periods of time, but it is an old carriage road so you don't have to climb up rocks/steps (which was easier on my knees). Really cool skeleton of a hotel up top, then incredible views of the Hudson Valley...More

Nice hike. Make sure you get there early on a weekend as parking lot fills, there is additional parking 1/4 mile past the main lot. Great views from fire tower when open. Interesting to see the old ruins of the hotel.

This can be considered a difficult hike but I will venture to say it is not. There is constant sustained elevation gain that does knock the wind out of you, but its up an old roadway so the terrain is easy. This goes on for...More

I came here to see the hotel ruins and they did not disappoint. Was treated to atmospheric clouds rolling through the site, making for some awesome photos. As others have said, it's ALL UPHILL and can be quite steep in parts. It's doable for most...More

It's all uphill with no more than a few feet here and there that seem to let up in incline. I was tired, but once I got to the top it was so worth it and I forgot all about the struggle of getting up...More

This was a continuous ascent for 2+ miles. For that it was challenging. There weren't any views until you got to the hotel 2 miles up. Its basically a road. The view is nice at the top. There is a small ledge. I hoped there...More

You can get to the trailhead by car, but you must walk up a 2.5 mile former carriage road to get to the actual summit of Overlook Mountain

Well we took a car up to the starting point of the hike and it was pretty windy and steep, and it may have been 2.5-3 miles from flat ground... probably further from Woodstock. Seems pretty difficult to bike, and definitely... More
