Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Canal Rocks was probably one of my favourite spots in all of WA. Absolutely beautiful little bridge that goes between land and rocks over the ocean which looks like a canal running between the two. Stunning views, rugged landscape and it was pretty windy and drizzle rain the day we went so we went back again another night to watch the sunset over the ocean and the rocks. Beautiful spot with amenities and lots of parking.

I used to come here all the time on my younger years to fish from this area. Being in holiday I thought since we were on holiday with our pup we may take him for a walk around this area.

Not to be,  as there are many signs about no dogs allowed even on leash. So all that was left to do was to turn around and drive away.  It still is a beautiful place but no dogs allowed.

We visited the beach in May 2020 during a large storm. The bridge across the canal rocks was damaged during the storm. We did get lovely wild seas stormy photos. A picturesque area. Have travelled during summer and calmer weather in the past and gone fishing from the rocks and enjoyed walks around the coastline. No public toilets at the beach but a well sized car park and several spots to pull off Canal Rocks Road to enjoy the view of the coastline and take photos

Canal Rocks is a great place to watch the ferocity of the Margaret River surf. The waves crash over the rocks with impressive spray flumes and wash. It’s a great sight to see. There is a small bridge to cross the gap between the rocks. The waves do crash over this bridge. Lots of great places to take photos and there are good spots away from the bridge area where most people congregate.

I visited Canal Rocks and unfortunately the boardwalk was closed on the day I visited (and didn’t look it was opening in a hurry). It looks like the recent storms in the area has damaged the boardwalk, hence why it was closed.

Fortunately, I decided to climb up the rocks and was able to view Canal Rocks from higher up / a different angle, and it was well worth it. A really lovely way to view this beautiful scenery.

We visited when the bridge was out of use due to storm damage. We still had a lovely walk around, climbed up some of the rocks, our 7-year-old was capable of doing so easily.
It's amazing being near the water when it's crashing over the rocks, a lovely way to spend some time.

Large carpark and a wooden bridge across to watch the waves crashing over the rocks, and some nice scenery looking along the coast. Yes, if you would like to you can climb over the rock formations. I can't say that this ia very good or excellent when there are so many other outstanding spots along the coast, but if you have time and want something to do, go for it.

Make a stop here as part of your itinerary, while visiting within the Margaret River region.

The start of the board walk is not far the car park. Follow the narrow timber walkway to the granite outcrop of Canal Rocks.

Since it’s located along remote coastline of the Indian Ocean, storms can popup quickly.

Of course it’s more spectacular when the swells role in and the waves start crashing high over the rocks.

However be weary, the bridge to canal rocks has been destroyed by storms on a few occasions.

Yes, they're just rocks but Canal Rocks is well worth a visit. You can clamber over rocks to get a better view of the crashing waves. Or you can be foolhardy and start atop the highest rocks as we saw some intrepid (perhaps there's a better word to describe them) guys do when we visited. There's even a boardwalk - I love boardwalks - that takes you across the water from the mainland to a small rocky outcrop. On windy, rugged days the wave activity is great. Just don't get too close. Worth a visit.

Visited Margaret River region many times, but this as our first visit to these rocks. Very dramatic. Easy parking, only a few metres to the viewing area. It isn’t one way walking, so I guess it could be frustrating when very busy.
