We visited the island yesterday. The boat ride over was very fast and smooth - not rough at all. We saw lots of quokkas around the settlement. There's alot more in the late afternoon, around 5pm. We went snorkeling at little salmon bay & salmon bay. The fish at salmon bay are easier to spot and felt alot safer. The... More

Have read dozen of reviews and decided to visit Rottnest island especially for the taking of selfie with the quokka, that is the main highlight of the trip. We have took the earliest ferry departing from Hillary's harbour, the ticket is expensive and we took the coach plus admission package. Since it was raining heavily, we could only sit inside... On a trip from Perth to Rootnest Island started on a cold, windy ferry,The wind made sitting outside uncomfortable so we moved inside into a very cold, windy cabin s the zircon was still on!A live commatery helped to enliven the journey but the crew kept bringing bags round if you were felling sea sick once we left Freemantle. Once on the... More

Thank you for the review Machanger the coach trips are a great plan for the wet or cold days. The Oliver Hill Gun and tunnel tour is also a great wet weather option. Rottnest Island has a strong military history but that's only one of the many historic stories the island has. Adam Morris Visitor Centre Manager More

Rottnest Island is just off the coast of Perth. Beautiful beaches and scenery. A little pricey, even by Perth standards. If your up to it try the Rottnest Island Speed Boat Adventure Tour. Very bumpy and a little wet but very exciting and a great view of the sea life.

Thank you for your review we agree the 90 minute Adventure Tour is a great way to see the marine wildlife of the island. Not always a bumpy trip its all dependant on the weather but always a great trip. Adam Morris Visitor Centre Manager More

Best place to stop by if you're not sure of what to do or if you need to hire a bike. This is also the place to buy the island bus tickets to hop on and off the different locations. It is really easy to find since it is the first building you come across once you exit the pier.

I began my day on Rottnest with the 22km bike which was absolutely wonderful. I loved seeing the rugged coastlines and local wildlife. This is such a special place and very well maintained. However, as the crowds began to increase later that morning, I noticed more and more people feeding and disturbing the local wildlife. I saw quokkas being crowded... More

Thank you for your review Lucy. The Rottnest Island Authority take the welfare of the animals on the island very seriously. The Rangers, Environmental team and island security are constantly educating people in the wildlife and what you can and can't do. It is great that people like yourself do step in on the animals behalf when the island staff... More

Cruising from Elizabeth Key to Rottnest and return to Fremantle, the river cruise had great sites, good commentary and comfortable seats. Arriving at Rottnest and picked up the bikes. Easy riding, once we used the gears (The bikes do have 3 gears, although we only found this out by accident 30 mins into the day), wonderful sites and of course... More

Our daughter left her iPod on one of the buses and between the drivers and the centre they tracked it down and we got it back, thank you! Also very helpful with tickets for the bus and other queries. They do close at 5 in case you are heading there later on the day.
