The lighthouse was a great destination to walk to on Rottnest Island. The view was very nice and though we didn't go into the lighthouse itself, it looked very cool from the outside. The walk trails that got us there were beautiful and it was one of the highlights of our massive 20km walk that we did around the whole island. Our friend Sam was visiting from Canberra and it was No.1 on the list of things to do "in Perth".

I gave this 4 stars because of the quokkas we met on our way up to the lighthouse. Even though the lighthouse is the highest point of the island, view of the coast is not that great. There’s a small exhibit in a rock house next to the lighthouse. My friends joined a tour up the lighthouse. At the moment there’s no charge because some part is closed for maintenance.

It took a while to ride your bike up to the lighthouse but worth it. Kept stopping to take a breathe or get a selfie. But the light house as amazing sweet guides. Got to learn a lot about the island and the light house. Has lots of photos. If you do decide to go up its only 155 steps and there is small areas so far up. When you get to the top and outside the views are just amazing. Dont look down. lol You can see all over the island. Well worth the travel.

Wadjemup Lighthouse is great to cycle to at night to see the eight beams of light spin around. I took a couple of teenage kids, they loved the adventure. But watch out for the Quokkas at night!

But it’s just a lighthouse. You can’t go up but the view from the base is good. A few mins walk from the village so of course you will go.

We got off the bus and walked towards the lighthouse. It was very windy, we looked around, took a few photos. Disappointed that there was an additional fee to go in the lighthouse. We decided to skip that. It is good to see the lighthouse preserved and maintained well.

This lighthouse is situated at a strategic location on the island and offers a spectacular lookout. From my accommodation at the villas on Thomson Bay, a bike ride of 5 km through undulating terrain and windy paths proved to be an enjoyable experience during winter. Wildlife such as a variety of birds and quokkas are wonderful encounters too. The guides at the lighthouse took pride in sharing their knowledge with us, and even though they were elderly folks, they were not at all lacking in enthusiasm and energy. This is definitely among one of the best lighthouses I've seen in the world, totaling some 30 in the world.

This was a great place to cycle to and the views from the top were incredibly beautiful. Climbing to the top was easy and the tours were very interesting as they could point everything out. Definitely worth the money

Magnificent views, easily climb able and well worth the bike ride to the hill. Awesome experience in going out on the upper gantry surrounding the light. In hindsight whilst the volunteer guides were polite friendly attentive and enthusiastic, I feel that maybe there needs to be a little bit more research and factoid dispensation provide in the guides' instruction book, things like...how the limestone blocks could have been lifted, the fact that lighthouses on a cost mostly have different light sequences, how many ship wrecks have happened, how long it takes to paint, how many litres of paint...etc etc etc all these little quirky facts, with a bit of research could be thrown around....making the experience more 'stick in your mind to tell thems back home' not diminishing from the experience though, it was great, and well worth it.

Would personally like to thank a tour guide of this Lighthouse named Cheriff (Sorry if I have spelt this incorrectly). His tour of the lighthouse was absolutely amazing, my boyfriend was visiting from Ohio, USA and we both absolutely adored his knowledge and passion for this beautiful piece of history. We did this tour on the 09th of December - the last one for the day @ 2:30pm. Once we left the lighthouse to rush back to the Ferry to leave the Island, we had realised we left our bag up at the lighthouse, this bag contained everything - money, tickets, phones, camera's, wallets, ID. My boyfriend and i hopped on our bikes and started racing back to collect this it hoping no one had stolen it and praying we'd make it back for the Ferry. We only just started riding down the road when we saw Cheriff wave his hands out of his Golf Buggy with his colleague and watched him pull out our bag to give to us. He said he was on is way to the Ferry to find us to give it back. He was definitely an incredible person, doing that for us when we had 15 minutes only before we had to leave. He made our experience on Rottnest Island such a memorable one for life. Thank you so much, from the Travel Agent and the American.

Hi. I will likely take the Explorer Bus when on Rottnest and was wondering about how long of a walk it is from the bus stop up to the lighthouse. Can anyone estimate the time it might take me? I'm not the most physically fit, but basically have good health and weight, and walk at a moderate pace. Are we talking about a 5 minute walk perhaps, or 10, or even 15? And obviously I guess going back down would be less!

To walk up to the lighthouse might take 15 minutes from the bus stop, look out for the quokkas that can sometimes be found in the shade of the trees on the left side of the path up to the lighthouse

How long does it take to ride a bike from Pedal and Flipper Hire's location on the island to Wadjemup Lighthouse? And is the terrain inbetween flat or steep? Do you need to be very fit to ride a bike there and back?
Written 28 July 2019
Half an hour I would say, maybe longer if you stop and look on the way.
Yes, there are a few uphill sections, but nothing too taxing. Hardest part is towards the end and that was where I had to get off and push my bike.

Hi, may I know how long or how difficult the walk is from the nearest Island Explorer bus stop up to the lighthouse? Thank you!
Written 21 March 2019
It's a bit of a walk from the bus, but once there you can sit and grab a drink from a van. Walk approx 10mins, but a steep walk
