Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have the honour of living two houses from this famous lake, which is not Heritage Listed for the State of Western Australia. It has thrombolytes growing - which is living rocks, which some could be up to 150 years of age, and I believe that if you put a pipe under the water you will see the oxygen bubbles rising. It has an abudience of bird life, sledgelands etc., It is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the southern hemisphere I believe. Also home to long necked turtles, dugite and tiger snakes.

Lake Richmond has quite a few unique characteristics. It is the closest-to-the-coast fresh water lake in Australia.

It supports a substantial population of wildlife and also thrombolites. There are pelicans and swans and frogs aplenty! Dotted around the lake are numerous information boards that provide interesting facts about the lake's history and ecology.

There is a three kilometre walking track around the lake that meanders through bushland and alongside a part of Safety Bay Road. There is also a boardwalk that extends partway into the lake.

There is also a grassed picnic area with barbeques and shelters.

Across Safety Bay Road is the Naragebup Environmental Centre which has many interesting exhibits and activities.

It's well worth a visit.

I reckon this area is great, but in summer watch out for the snakes they tend to lay across the walk ways and paths...

Don’t be mis led by the Beaty of these areas as you will need transport to get to them all.
Great views and natural environments. Take a camera with you and a drone

The location of this review is the same as Lake Richmond seems I can only assume it’s a double up.

Personally, I prefer Lake Monger than Lake Richmond for scenic outlook and walking trails (plus accessibility and parking).

Point Peron offers a lot of versatility for walks or sight seeing. Whether it's the ocean or lake areas.

This area is a natural wetland which hosts a great deal of birdlife and reptiles. Yep be mindful of this especially in summer. Nice for a walk.

We love walking around this lake when visiting family in Rockingham. Normally plenty of wildlife but not much out today. We did see a few pelicans and a couple of birds of prey, but it's still a pleasant walk. No doubt we will be around again before we go home. Would recommend, especially for photographers like us.

Perfect for bird watching, walking or just sit by the look out and relax listening to the wildlife!
Depending on the time of year there are many bird species to see, wattle birds, blue wrens etc etc
