Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not sure why this is on TA. You cannot access the bridge and there is a huge sign advising no public access so you can’t even get close. Basically, give it a miss.

Long bridge linking the mainland to Garden Island. Not sure if you can use it all the time as the Navy stuff is sometimes sensitive.........

I remember well before this causeway was constructed to Link Garden Island to the mainland. The island used to be a frequently used public holiday island like Rottnest until the State Government took it for military use. It was a shame but it can now only be seen by the public only select open days.
The causeway itself is not special nor does it assist anyone apart from government use.
Apart from this, it's use is ok to protect the sound from the open seas. Some of the island is open to the public via boat but the causeway itself isn't accessible for public use.
I suppose if you like causeways it is ok as an attraction.

I was lucky enough to visit this causeway when travelling and it did not disappoint. Of all the causeways I've seen, Garden Island causeway rates in the top three. It has a rich history and is absolutely beautiful that must be seen to believed. I will always visit this causeway when I'm in town from now on.

You see this bridge from points of the mainland coast, but its not really an attraction.
Its a military bridge that is closed to the public.
Despite its naval defence purpose, you can visit Garden Island but you need your own private boat if you hope to do so as you cannot cross this road bridge.
This review does not rate Garden Island itself.

This is a bridge that provides access for authorised personnel to Garden Island.
Not accessible by the general public, so I’m not even sure why it’s listed as a tourist attraction.
If you love causeways, head to Point Peron or even Rockingham Foreshore, as this is visible from there
You won’t actually be able to step foot on this as there is a security gate that is manned 24 hours for the Naval base security.

I have reviewed this previously and not much has changed. I remember this area before the causeway was put in and the cockburn sound used to be full of good quality fish. This immediately changed after the causeway was put in. Don't get me wrong, I understand that it was necessary for the navy to access the island when they took ownership of it as a base but it definitely hasn't benefitted anyone else.
Not much has changed since it was first put in and still serves no other service apart from the navy access and being an eyesore.
It is such a shame because prior to the causeway it was a holiday island similar to Rottnest.
A tourist attraction. Definately not.

This bridge requires permission to drive over as it leads to the Garden Island Naval facility. Close in very windy weather.

The Garden Island Causway is not open to the public. It is the only way to get to H.M.A.S Stirling which is an Australian Naval Base. It is not a holiday destination but you can take photos of the bridge from the local beaches.

This is a remarkable piece of work. The causeway with the arc shaped concrete bridge connects the Navy base HMAS Stirling on Garden Island with the mainland.
However it is not accessible to general public. Only the permitted visitors to the Navy base can enter the cause way bit still could not get off on it.
So the only way you can see it from distance, even visible from Rockingham beach. Anyway that's the best way to enjoy it anyway.
Not a must see but if you are in Rockingham have a look.

If we drive car down for the day, is there access to a good fishing spot? Don’t have a boat.
