This is one of a handful of fire lookout trees but this one is no longer operational. Worth a visit when you are in the area.

Well posted sign, close to the main road and not far from the town centre.

The area is magnificent for short nature walk, the area is excellent for photography.

Sadly the tree is now close for climbing.

Unfortunately the tree can no longer be climbed. Due to it's location, those passing by will still enjoy seeing the size of the tree and look-out structure at the top.

You can’t claim the Diamond Tree any more, due to degradation of the tree making it unsafe to climb.

They’ve removed quite a few of the lower rungs, and also fenced off the tree so you can’t climb, however I wasn’t interested in viewing this tree for the climb.

There’s a lot of history here which is fascinating to read, and makes it worth a visit to understand more about the history.

The Diamond Tree was one of 3 trees that one could climb in the South West. However, since July 2019, the Diamond Tree is no longer accessible. I only gave a 3 star rating as we visited and climbed the other 2 trees in Pemberton ie the Gloucester and Dave Evans Bicentennial trees. If you are not visiting either trees, then by all means come and have a look at the Diamond Tree and be amazed at the remarkable construction of the cabin at the top and do go for a trail walk. The toilets here are also exceptionally clean and with handwash.

Whilst it remains a good place to visit, the lower parts of the ladder have been removed and you can no longer climb to the look out.

This was a firespotters tree and to see it gives a great idea of what it would have been like to workin this area. Quite awe inspiring and in a lovely area of bush with some good walks around it.

When I went there in early July, I could still see this view among the huge trees. On July 10, the local government announced that they closed this site and no one can climb the tree again

They have taken pegs away. You can't climb it anyway. So don't go there as you will be wasting your time
