Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Interesting, informative and entertaining skipper Grant from Kalbarri Wilderness cruises from the mouth of the Murchison River up river. Grant had a good knowledge of the river and the sand banks and we got off the boat up river to explore the area for a short time. Well worth the time spent on the river

The best view to see the river meeting the Indian Ocean is from Chinaman's point especially during sunset. There's ample parking space and just a short walk up to the view point. Highly recommended.

Great view from Chainman's Point where the river meets the Indian Ocean. Interesting to see a blue sea and within the basin, water with a green hue. Plenty of activity with small boats and families trying their luck angling. I have to admit that I would like to see the river in full spate.

Stayed at Anchorage caravan park, have stayed there before and enjoyed it, However this time we were squashed in like sardines. Paying a premium for such a small site. People walking thru your sites all the time because there are not a lot of allocated walk ways to the amenities. I asked for a person to be moved closer to us and was told by a staff member (she acted like she had no interest in helping) that they were fully booked however a site straight opposite us remained empty for two days. Pool lovely. Abolution block is fine and clean, however the poor cleaner there are some pigs out there (Ladies) not the parks fault. Site should be bigger especially for the money u pay. Location is good.

This is the second longest river in WA flowing nearly 820 kms from the Robinson Ranges through Kalbarri into the Indian Ocean. We recently spent several days around Kalbarri town and the National Park where we spent time viewing and hiking along the Murchison River.

A great viewpoint of the river is from the SkyWalk structures in Kalbarri NP. These overhanging walkways are 100 metres off the ground and afford great views of the Murchison below and in the distance. There are other lookouts over the river within the Park including at Natures Window, Hawks Head and Ross Graham Lookouts.

We also enjoyed the Natures Window loop trail which includes nice viewpoints along the rim of the Murchison River Canyon as well as a nice stretch of trail that runs along the river. Note a couple of other hikers decided to take a dip in the river near the end of the trail, looks inviting although we didn't do so ourselves.

Lastly, the Murchison spills into the Indian Ocean at Kalbarri so you can see the much wider mouth of the river quite well from the town centre and viewpoints near Chinaman's Beach as well.

It was very upsetting to see such a beautiful place ruined by people. The views of the river are beautiful, but walking along the shore wasn't very nice. It was full of rubbish, bottle tops, cigarette butts and fishing line. My husband and I were really shocked to see how dirty and run down the whole place has become. Very sad.

Bush flies are real nuisance. Good footwear needed for rocky track. We saw our first free emus, kangaroos, lots of snake. Take some careful steps to the lookout. Take sun screen, hats, shades and water aplenty.

If travelling north from Geraldton and you need to stop the night, the Galena Bridge camp site is a must. It sits on the Murchison River, 113Km north of Geraldton (61Km north of Northampton), and has a very large, spread out area for camping.

As it's about 550Km away from Perth, that was my limit of driving for one day and to stay at this very tranquil place ended the day perfectly. Spend some time here; go for a walk, take photos, enjoy the company if that's what you are looking for.

The south side of the river has two blocks of toilets, kept very clean and presentable, and there are plenty of benches and loads of shade. North side also has facilities, but less than the south.

we did some off roading during our recent trip to Kalbarri. The tracks were fun to negotiate with a good mix of soft and hard surfaces - no need to deflate tyres.
Our destination was called Gregory Rocks. Now that is a place to see, unwind and tune into nature.

We went into the Visitor Centre to plan our few days in Kalbarri, they were very pleasant and helpful. We enquired about the morning 2 hour boat cruise......they were running an extra one, 8am - 10am and the 10am to noon. We decided to do the 10am the last day we were there, we went out to the gorges which was great! Last day we packed up early to get to the Visitor center to collect out tickets for the boat cruise only to find out that he wasn't running that day!!!!!! Very disappointing. NO notice outside the center, nothing! Never been to Kalbarri before and I doubt I will again. No wonder there were hardly any tourists in town....................they don't cater for you! We had the same disappointment with the Sunset "Reefwalker Tour" he had taken his boat out of the water.
