- Val DG2 contributionsTurquoise beach visitIt was a wonderful spot. The water was lovely and beach was absolutely stunning. So many different types of sand on the beach and the water was warm and clear. Also the place was family friendly and simply fantastic.Visited April 2023Written 21 April 2023
- HB33320 contributionsSimply stunningBequtiful beach, full of people enjoying the third most beautiful beach in the world, yet definitely not crowded. Families, couples, oldies, youngies. Take note and snorkel near others as there can be quite a pull on some daysVisited June 2023Written 14 June 2023
- Klair BayleyMount Helena, Australia99 contributionsLittle bit of snorkelling heavenStunning place to visit. We went to the Drift Bay Area found a small place on the beach as there isn’t a lot of sand area but the water was amazing. Snorkelling was amazing, won’t disappoint experts or novices. You do drift hence the name, but take you to the other end of the beach and you get out and go again. We saw something differ y every time so it doesn’t get boring. Heaps of fish to see and also rare turtle sightings as well. Family friendly especially around the other side of the bay. No food or drink facilities available so take everything you need for the day. There are 2 drop toilets that are accessible as well.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 July 2023
- Panadvx100aSydney, Australia78 contributionsAmazing water colour and reef snorkelingWell worth the drive. There's a current that takes you to the open ocean if you don't get off at the point that the signs warn you about. I was there at low tide so there wasn't any current at all. The fish life was simply phenomenal. One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen & it's free.Visited August 2023Written 1 August 2023
- ShariWyndham, Australia2 contributionsTurquoise snorkeling paradise!!Incredible beach! Turquoise water, white sand, perfect water temperature, lots of things to see underwater .. have recently learned to snorkel.. swam with three gentle turtles! - Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland8,858 contributionsIdyllic BeachWithout a doubt, the nicest beach we visited in our month long trip in Australia. It mattered not a jot either that we were there in winter with lovely sunshine and warm temperatures. The water was a little cold but as Europeans, we are used to that! It was lovely to swim in, teeming with life too as the reef is only just off shore. What we most loved was the peace and quiet. There are no crowds and it is totally undeveloped as it lies well within Cape Range National park. There is a car park and viewing platform fort hose who don't want to go down to the beach itself. otherwise nothing, no bars, shops etc... perfect.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 21 September 2023
- Janan L15 contributions#1 in AustraliaWith the worlds largest fringing reef 300 klms, there is no better place to Snorkel. The marina life in Ningaloo is out of this world! You don’t have to go far from the white sand to be surrounded by large fish, the water was literally knee deep. I cannot tell you how beautiful the clear clean turquoise waters are for this bay. It’s phenomenal and 10/10! See Exmouth, Turquoise Bay, Sandy Bay and Coral Bay before you die! And Monkey Mia too :)Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 September 2023

So it’s a bit of a drive from Exmouth.. maybe 35-40 mins..but the beach is well worth going to..
Parking is close to the beach, and the blue of the sea is really blue..
To the left of the beach is the drift snorkel, which I did a couple times. There is a good lot of coral here , and lots of fish life.
The main part of the beach is Sandy, and slopes gently.
I also snorkelled the main beach and saw a couple turtles and some blue spotted rays.
On a bad day, the flies can be horrendous..

What a fabulously easy place to snorkel. Beware the currents but going at the right tide makes this the easiest place to see such an amazing array of marine life. A must for your holiday itinerary

Beautiful beach or cove, depending on which side you go to. Drift dive pretty good but not my favourite as it’s over too quick if the drift is fast.

What a wonderful world just a short walk from the beach and an easy snorkle out to the reef so full of a massive variety of fish. Have a buddy with you as the tidal flow can lead you down the beach. A very special place.

Hi! We'll be visiting Turquoise Bay toward the end of July and will reach late in the day.
Is it safe to start snorkelling around 4PM? Also, what are our chances of seeing turtles during this period? Thanks!

Snorkelling at any time of the day at Turquoise Bay is safe as long as you are aware of the tidal movement. Try to avoid snorkelling late on an outgoing tide as water will flush out of the lagoon.

Did you hire your fins and snorkel in Exmouth or bring with you from your home town. If you hired them can you tell me where to go please. Also did you do a tour to the Bay, or drive yourself and do what the others did as far as the DRIFT is concerned? Thanks

Hi everyone has pretty much answered your original question on the stacks themselves definitely best place to snorkel - I also found going just before they say best time to go (high tide) even better - as it is before the tide and the strong drift and waves comes in and easier with younger children to slowly swim across the bay - found it easier with the kids just be careful not to walk on anything as that is why they tell you high tide so less chance of stepping on things - go straight into swim mode to protect the reef. Was teaching my kids from the start to respect the reef :-)

We are thinking of going in June(early June) to visit this lovely beach. Is this a good month to visit? Weather-wise and water temp-wise? Thank you for any insight. :)

G'day
I believe this is a great time to visit. The sharks will be around. The nights might be chilly but it will still be warm during the day. Water will be 26+.

Hy, sorry for the delay: no public transport, but there's shuttle bus from some tour operator. You can ask at the Exmouth Visitor Center.

Hi there,
My husband and are are a fit couple who do an ocean swim every day here where we live on the Gold Coast.(I also dive) I am 60 and he is 67.Are we too old for your tour? We are coming to see my son who lives in Perth over Easter. We are going up to Ningaloo after that. We want to swim with the whale sharks.
cheers,

Definitely not too old ....I've just returned and I'm 62 and also a scuba diver! However, due to a recent on going injury I'm definitely not as fit as I have been in the past ....I did find it difficult to keep up ....we went with Ningaloo Blue and Connor would be in the dingy ready to tow me back to the boat as soon as I got too tired.....I still managed to get some good photos and observe this magnificent shark ....we saw several sharks and only one in my option swan slowly the others seemed to be a bit faster ....hope this helps :-)

Are there still whalesharks early November. And what about the flies? Is that really bad in November? We did not see them in the east coast last Year.

Whale shark season is said to end in August, although sightings occur past that point. You may find tours hard to come by after August as the official season has ended. Flies tend to be worse as you near summer. Expect more from October onwards.
