Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We drive into to Mandu Mandu in Cape Range N.P. as we saw it as a suggested hike in a local guidebook. I don't know what we were thinking, but I guess we thought it was going to be pretty unchallenged like Yardie Creek or the Thomas Carter Lookout Walk that we had done the day before.
Goodness, how complacent we were! Before I go any further, this is not a bad review - it is absolutely mesmerising and turned into to be one of the highlights of our time in Exmouth. No, I just mean we didn't expect the workout we got!
Bring good shoes as it's very rough, uneven and requires a fair bit of steep climbing. Bring water and a hat as it's very exposed.
From the car park you walk along what appears to me to be a dry river bed with massive stones. Very easy to turn an ankle unless you are careful and have good walking shoes, hiking boots or trainers.
You then climb up the left hand side of the Gorge and double back towards the car park along the ridges. Many, many times you are clambering up and down steep ridges and plateaus. It's a proper hike, one of the best I've ever done.
Incredible views of the Gorge with the birds of prey circling and the Cape Range stretching off in the distance towards the ocean.
What an absolute gem of a place. Don't do it alone - not that it's dangerous, it's just very isolated and remote.

My partner & I were surprised how nice this walk was.We left at 7am,the light was spectacular on the gorge walls.Walking along the river bed was pleasant and easy to follow marker poles.
Best marked track I've been on in awhile better than following arrows on ground.
We seen a few rock wallabies which was a delight. They sat and watched us from a ledge ,while we climbed down.
I liked the going up the tracks and then down not too steep and there are a few.there are a few sit on your backside moments but enjoyable for a not to fit person.
It is hot take water!!!!

I enjoyed the beautiful walls along the gorge, the fabulous views right out to Turquoise Bay and making it back in one piece. I read that it was a Level 4 trek but did not fully understand what this means until it was too late to turn back. Took the walk thinking I could turn back when it got too tough. Should have started on the ridge not the pebble river bed as I would have been able to turn back. I am extremely grateful to the fellow trekkers who went out of their way to help us. Glad I achieved this experience which is way out of my comfort zone. This trek is absolutely fine for fit and sure footed people.

Mandu Mandu was recommended for us but in March it was way too hot. We are normally sportive persons but because of the heat we just walked in 30 minutes and then walked back. You walk in the river bed which is made of a lot of bigger stones which makes walking quite exhausting. Saw two cangaroos though :)

Our group of fit able bodied adults walked this trek this morning. We arrived early (8.30am). There was a cool breeze. Its a pleasant walk with a few steep sections. Great views out to the reef from top of the walk. There were two families on the walk - one with two young children and another with a baby in a backpack. Took us about 50 mins. Recommend starting early.

Spectacular, hard going walking up, but worth it. We went for Geocaching predominantly. The colours and textures are the wonderful creation of a might God. Hubby went right to the top to answer thrnlast question, I went almost tomtop but got to hard.

A waterless gorge, but significant evidence of historical water activity and the fact that the land was submerged below the ocean in the long past. Best time to visit is before sunrise, to be able to watch the sunrise from the top. An easy to moderate hike.

We done this walk while camped nearby. Level 4.1km over stormy riverbed then steep climb to first level. My wife was slightly intimidated at the steepness but it continued on.Steep descents and climbs.Reasonably challenging for someone with lower fitness levels.

We had a lovely hike up the gorge back in July 2020. A greta walk for the entire family. We saw heaps of rock wallabies and bird life.

We were lucky enough to do this walk when we stayed at Sal Salis, and reached the peak just before sunrise. Absolutely stunning views, and so cool to see some rock wallabies along the way.
