I spent three days on the Frankland river with Stuart from ATC improving my skills in open water canoeing (moving/white water). Great location and Stuart was keen to make sure I was well prepared for the trip. Although in retrospect I should have paid more attention when he said the water was cold- I thought I was ready for it but should have taken a 4 or 5mm wetsuit- it was freezing. I learnt a lot- between improving strokes I already knew and learning additional strokes I hadn't heard of. Open canoeing (Canadian) is relatively uncommon in Western Australia, whitewater canoeing even more so but Stuart has obviously been doing this a long time. As chance would have it- the canoe I was paddling was one that he sold to me some years ago while he was working in Perth. The first day of the course concentrated on stroke development, ferrying, eddy turns and making eddy entries on relatively gentle moving water which allowed frequent repeats on the same section without being washed downstream when mistakes were made. Days 2 and 3 included more advanced whitewater with a good focus on safety, preparation, reading the water and scouting rapids before picking a line to run. Stuart is a good teacher/coach- providing direction, encouragement and identifying areas for improvement as required. I highly recommend him if you're interested in open whitewater canoeing or any of the other courses he runs. Overall I had a great time.

I've been meaning to write this review for some time. Earlier this year we organised a family day of climbing with Stuart. We had all climbed in the gym before and wanted some help to lead climb outdoors. He adjusted the day to suit our abilities and and we all learnt heaps. Stuart was patient, had a great sense of humour and was fun to hang out with. He was great with my kids (aged 8 and 12). He is also incredibly energetic. It was a really full day, we barely stopped for lunch and we were all busy. We felt we got got value for money. Even if you hadn't climbed before he would be able to organise something for you. We finished the day with a multi pitch climb to the top of Monkey Rock which was an absolute highlight!

From the moment we contacted Stuart at Adventure Training Consultants the whole experience was very positive. Stuart was responsive by email and was able to be flexible to accommodate my daughter and I on a rock climbing trip. The day was all we expected and more. Stuart is professional, knowledgeable and very personable. He made us both feel very comfortable and safe. Stuart has great local knowledge and excellent skills and experience in rock climbing. Stuart helped us get the most out of the day, extend our climbing experience and provide a really memorable trip in the most stunning location. Thanks Stuart and your team!

To all my climbing friends and my friends who want to climb. If you are looking at getting some training or instruction in outdoor lead climbing sport or trad I can very highly recommend Stuart Matherson at Adventure Training Consultants. Top notch instruction done professionally. I have learned heaps and gained a lot of confidence and thoroughly enjoyed my 3 days here in Denmark.
