- Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland11,261 contributionsAbsolutely BeautifulWe spent three wonderful days in the Shark bay and Denham areas. It is a truly mesmerising place, astonishingly beautiful, rugged and peaceful. Francois Peron National Park is a must see but there are lots of lovely stretches of coastline to see and explore. Denham makes a great base to explore Shell Beach and Little Lagoon and the likesVisited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 20 September 2023
- Robert C1 contributionUnspoiled delightGreat part of the West Australian coast. Remote and unspoilt part of the world. Stay in Denham and it is an eas drive to Monkey Mia to see the dolphins, Francois Peron and Denham itself. Shark Bay is a unique place.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 October 2023

We recently spend a few days in Denham exploring the Shark Bay area and Francois Peron National Park, enjoying unique fauna and flora, remarkably beautiful arid & desert environs of the NP and marine areas including aquatic wildlife adventures around Dirk Hartog and Steep Point as well. There are nice stops to make in route to Denham while driving in along Shark Bay Road. These include Hamelin Pool Telegraph Station, Shell Beach and Eagle Buff Cliffs. Near Denham we enjoyed seeing the interesting Little Lagoon. Overall, just a beautiful and unique area of WA, a place we would have gladly spend 2-3 more days if time had allowed. Really looking forward to visiting again in the future.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 September 2024

Amazing part of the world! Well worth the 8 hour drive from Perth. Despite it's isolated location, Shark Bay, like most coastal destinations is currently getting alot more intrastate visitors. Its such a shame that given the size of WA, Qantas hasn't added Denham and other hard to get to destinations to its regional route list. In the absence of international or even interstate travel opportunities, these smaller, regional holiday destinations are begging for additional services! Come on Qantas, surely you have the staff and the planes!

I couldn’t find the area to write my review but I needed to let people know. Mitch was an awesome pilot, young as he is he has great customer service skills and knowledgeable if the area even though he’s only been here a few months
The views were amazing, we did flight 6 which encumbered everywhere with the exception of the tip of Dirk Hartog Island.
Definitely worthwhile. Thanks Mitch

I went to Shark Bay in December 2019 .
When I went to Shark Bay they was a lot of animals and we were even able to feed an touch the daulphins. They was a litle restaurant wery prety, the atmoshere was incredible and the beach was gigantic ... It is not very practical because there is no plane the only way is with car .

This area has a lot to offer. Monkey Mia is, of course, beautiful and dolphins and dugongs (do a cruise!) are fascinating, but there is much more to the area than “just” the dolphins. Dirk Hartog island and Francois Peron National Park are absolutely worth a visit. Not only is the scenery beautiful, you will also see some very interesting critters such as crabs or thorny devils. Take some time to explore the area - you can easily spend a week or more there and find lots of things to keep you busy.

Family with 3 young children thoroughly enjoyed Aristocat II dugong wildlife cruise. Informative, friendly staff. Saw lots of dugong with calves. Dolphins and turtles. Highly recommend.

A fantastic place for young families. The central walk is beautiful and clean with amazing facilities including lots of parking for cars and cars with trailers and caravans and lots of picnic benches and BBQs and toilets. The kids parks is fantastic and my daughter asked to go there multiple times! She loved the lighthouse tower slide!
The beach is clean and so close and accessible and there are a couple of piers to walk down and have a look in the Bay or fish.
Unfortunately, we had heavy rain whilst there and so the national Park was closed due to the roads not being safe so there wasn't too much we could do in terms of exploring but we will definitely be coming back!

Shark Bay is unique. The stromatolites at Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve are three billion years old -- the oldest living creatures on Earth. The stromatolites are separated from the rest of Shark Bay by the Peron Peninsula, named after an early French explorer. The stromatolites are a casebook study in biological history. Hamelin Pool is 800 km (500 miles) by road north of Perth, the Western Australian state capital. I have been to Shark Bay several times, it is a beautiful unspoiled environment.

Visited at the end of school holidays so fairly quiet but imagine it gets very busy. Main Street along beach front fitted with a few shops but many empty premises too. Plenty of parking, fantastic play area for kids, lovely beach. Boat ramps and public toilets. Dog friendly in sections.
We stayed at Denham seaside caravan park at the end of the Main Street which was a great spot.
Lovely blue skies, windy for us, great sunsets!

Did you take a cruise tour to see the marine animals, if so which one and which time of day? Or do you need to dive? We will be visiting in September, so not sure what Sea animals will be around at that time of year?

These guys are brilliant & very professional, perfect nature cruises.
Always plenty of sea life around, September is a nice time to go, very mild temps 20-24c
probably a few showers here and there. Enjoy

The beaches are very calm in Denham, little lagoon is also very good for kids with shallow waters. Don't miss out on heading over to Monkey Mia for dolphin experience and great swimming.
