The stromatolites are a little underwhelming but if you take the time to reflect that these are amongst the oldest living creatures on the planet, then it is quite cool. We had a swim in these turquoise waters and enjoyed the snorkelling a lot.

On the way to Denham just a few km after the turn from Highway. It is similar to other lakes in WA but somehow I find each of the interesting. Can spend around 15-30 min walking on the board walk. Clear water and different fishes can be seen. Flies are a nuisance and best to have fly nets to avoid... More

As many visitors note, it might not seem like much, but you are in fact seeing how life came to be on our planet--small groups of organisms cooperating to create a community. Skip the telegraph station as it's sometimes not accessible if the shop and cafe are busy. Spend more time reading the informative displays and returning in time to... More

I had no idea what a stromatolite was before I stopped here for a visit. Information on the history and the science behind the stromatolites is displayed along the route down to the pier. Its fascinating stuff! When we visited there was not another soul in sight, so it was quiet and peaceful. Bring sunscreen and a hat, for the... More

On the basis this is classed as a World Heritage Site I've no choice really than to give it a top score - it's just that I can't quite understand the significance of these rocks. Until the final 500metres there's a sealed road off the main Denham highway and it's only a short 4km diversion so worth making the effort.... More

In truth, the photos we took were better than the actual experience. Only for the hard-core naturalist or just those that have a few minutes to fill. Otherwise, just look at the photos.

Well worth the visit to see the stromatolites. Lots of interesting information on the boardwalks. Visit at high tide!
