Left from Perth for a day trip to Collie . Plenty to look about the place. Mainly wanted to see the hype around the big painted mural on the Wellington dam wall . It was crazy good . 100 times better than the seeing the Mona Lisa lol . Can see the mural from the top lookout or drive down to the bottom car park and look up. So much detail for a massive painting . Definitely putting Collie on the map for tourists .

We had heard good things about the massive mural across the dam wall at Wellington Dam, so went and checked it out from two angles - from the road in front of the dam (below the level of the dam) and from the lookout a little above the dam wall. At the latter there was a massive carpark, with virtually no visitors. The cafe here was also closed. Both viewpoints were just stunning, with the one from the lookout more panoramic. The project must have been an enormous undertaking. Also dropped in at the Honeymoon Pool, a delightful spot. Was really impressed by the quality of the facilities here.

This was my first ever visit to Wellington National Park and I was very impressed. I parked near the Kiosk, which is accessed via Falcon Rd, about 45 minutes drive from Bunbury. There's ample parking and toilets. There's also a small shop with a fairly limited selection of eats; it closes around 3pm and the kitchen stops making food around 2:30pm.

I did the 10km Sika trail, which took me just over 2 hours. It's a multi-use trail and shared with mountain bikers, but I only saw 3 riders the entire time. Signage is very good. I did the loop anti-clockwise, and for the first stretch there are some nice views of the dam, but most of the trail is just through the bush. It's fairly undulating, and even on a bike would be fairly demanding, so a reasonable level of fitness is required, especially if you're doing the entire loop. The only picnic stop along the way is at Potter's Gorge, which is less than 1km from the Kiosk.

There are several camping places within the park, such as Honeymoon Pool and Potters Gorge. I didn't stop to explore these, but there seemed to be a lot of picnic tables and places to stop and enjoy the park.

Some of the roads into the park are one-way, such as Lennard Drive and River Road. But they are very scenic, particularly Lennard Drive, which goes right besides the Collie River, and has several parking spots where you can stop for a picnic, right beside the river and its numerous cascades.

We recently spent a couple of nights at Potters Gorge which is a 1.5km walk to Wellington Dam and in the National Park.It is a bush setting and has a camp kitchen, very clean drop toilets and dump point. It is for tenting, caravans of all sizes and camper trailers. We loved it.You have to book online with Dept of Parks and Wildlife and are allocated a huge camp spot with plenty of room. Each site has a picnic table and a fantastic fire pit(seasonal for use). You need to bring your own wood and cannot collect from the bush. The bushlands are teaming with bird life and at this time of year,Orchids and wild flowers. You can walk to the dam,the Kiosk for a coffee and beautiful walking trails to Honeymoon Pool and others. No pets are allowed due to it being a National Park.Sunrises over the lake were beautiful. The dam wall itself is a wonder to behold.Easy trip from Perth for a day trip.WELL WORTH THE DRIVE and we will be visiting again

Great view of the Wellington Dam from the lookout point. Quarry was interesting too with lots of picnickers around. We also stopped at the Rapids, Big Rock, Little Rock, Long Pool and Honeymoon Pool. Parking was fine at the dam area but elsewhere particularly at Honeymoon Pool was a nightmare !

A great place to visit when in collie Shire. On the way I. U go through a tunnel unexpectedly, only when we went thru we realised it was a mining road going over the top of us. Then around the corner the dam wall appears in front of you. If u r interested u can absaile down the quarry wall in front of the tea rooms. Great coffee and cakes to b had at dam kiosk. We probably ceded in after our look around and stopped to watch the mining trucks go over the tunnel. There is a road to the right of the tunnel going out of Wellington Dam that u can drive along to piles of dirt. Here is a great viewing point to watch the mining trucks coming and going. The drivers will wave to you as they pass. We had a lovely visit and can highly recommend it.

We enjoyed a pleasant couple of hours driving through the area, visited a couple of areas for the first time due to the bridge closure at the dam and resultant detour required. Plenty of activities for natures lovers with camping facilities, swimming, hiking, canoeing, fishing and some enjoying picnics. Our guest enjoyed the drive and marvelled at the varieties of native trees. Enjoyed a snack at the kiosk and expanded our local knowledge at the information gazebo near the lookout.

We stayed on the Potters Gorge campground which has no facilities other than long drop toilets and bins. We were 3 families who love the basic camping. The park is ver6 picturesque, and you can swim in the reservoir or the Honeymoon Pool. Well worth a visit.

We love this campsite. Just enough amenities to make life easy, but plenty of secluded spots to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Forest is so lush that it's always cooler than the rest of the countryside, so its the perfect summer getaway. We even had a 9C night while the rest of the country was sweltering in heatwaves. Bring your kayaks and floating stuff for lots of fun on the cold running river, or pack the car/bikes to explore lots spots in the surrounding area
