The blowholes experience was pretty blah! It’s a long drive of nothingness to start with but the coastline and the blue ocean do compensate for it somewhat. It was just an average display of geysering water as the wave action want average as well. Biggest flow was about 10 metres. A high point was spotting a small humpback whale about 300 metres off shore heading north. There were others further out that were breaching but all I could see was the splash as they fell back into the water. A local said that there were usually a lot more about but they are migratory creatures after all.
It is quite difficult to get from the car park to the blowhole vicinity as it is necessary to negotiate 15 - 20 metres of broken and jagged limestone. Seniors need to be very wary. Once across this barrier the ground smooths out somewhat making for better walking. (TIP where sturdy shoes not flip flops/ thongs)
If authorities graded a path through the broken rock it would make things easier for everyone.
Always keep an eye on the sea as the occasional king wave can rise unexpectedly and knock you over and possibly drag you into the sea - there is no beach to get out of the water and the cliffs are steep.

We travelled here on a day trip from Carnarvon and enjoyed the blow hole spouts. Took drinking water with us. There’s a lovely swimming beach for little kids and some snorkeling if you like. You can free camp on the southern end (minimal fee) or go north to the station which charges a fee.

We visited the blowholes and they were very active and fun to see. The landscape and scenery is beautiful. The food van was open and many people were buying lunch but we’d taken a picnic lunch. The drive out from Carnavan is about 50 minutes on a good road. The car park is dirt but it was fine for our motor home. We drove past the blowhole down to the ‘aquarium’ which is a reef off the beach. The snorkeling was fantastic, in fact we went back 2 days later. It’s best to go on an outward tide as at low tide it can get a bit shallow. I took photos at high tide and towards low tide and the lower the tide the clearer it was to see.we swam across to the little island and explored the shells over there. There were whales on the outside of the reef putting on a spectacular show with lots of full body breaching. A wonderful day.

We had a lovely afternoon at the blowholes, an hours or so's drive from Carnarvon. The setting is incredible with the weaves crashing off the cliffs and of course spouting with sheer force up through the blowholes.
You can get reasonably close too as long as you stay safe and you can see the blowhole clearly. When the waves come in, the force and the display id quite magnificent.
The view up the coast to the wave cut platforms and cliffs are quite astonishing. I was in Australia for a month and I'd put these blowholes right up there amongst my favourite things to have visited.
An absolute must see, honestly!

I stayed at Quobba station for 2 nights and visited the Blowholes on all 3 days I was up this way. Spectacular playing from the rock blowholes, but also spectacular playing from the abundant Humpback Whales migrating up the coast! Fin slapping, tail slapping, breaching, we got the whole hog. After snorkelling the aquarium on first morning (which was spectacular, if hazardously shallow) I grabbed fish and chips from the food van to eat while watching the whales and the waves. I got a kids size, $15 for local fish and delicious chips, pretty darn good value. Was one of the best afternoons of my holiday.

We visited in August and the weather was just right, not too hot or windy. Lucky enough to also spot some whales in the area too which was great.
Make sure to try to delicious food from the tucker box van located in the car park.
We shared the fish and chips and must say the freshness and flavour was fab ! our pack included fresh local whiting and mackerel, perfectly cooked and seasoned.
Nice to sit and enjoy while taking in the view.
The van also does good coffee and donuts if you visit in the morning.

its a little bit of drive in from the highway but bitumen all the way.
turn left at the king waves sign, there and further left are a couple of blow holes, the road then leads to shacks and a car park overlooking a reef bay which is great for a swim or snorkeling safe for kids, further down is open sea for more experienced swimmer. the blows themself are on Rocky cliffs not terribly disabled friendly. if you have mobility issues best watched from car park.
if you turn right at king wave sign there are a couple more blow holes on the gravel and very congregated road that leads to Quabba Station and further on Red Bluff. there is a memorial to HMAS just a few kms short of Quobba. You can drive up to the cain. Not much to see at Quobba if not a guest.
it's a nice way to fill in a few hours, no facilities so take your supplies with you, though Quobba has a shop.

It was high tide so the waves were crashing over the top of the rocky shelf and the blowhole was working well. Not sure why people are so crazy as to get close to the edge and breaking waves to get a photo. Watched a man with a tripod do this and was it worth the pain it caused others watching knowing people have died there being washed away by a wave.

When the wind is blowing so are the blowholes. We spent abour half hour watching the blow go so high its incredible. Was a bit cool in August with the wind but wear a jacket which helps with the spray too and its good to watch. Bit uneven over the rocks to get near the edge but safe enough.

Visited blowholes which were great.
Went & had lunch on boat launch beach & come across a baby disposable nappy buried in sand so that put us off big time.
All the shacks there look very shabby & makes it look cheap.

Can someone tell me what sort of numbers get to the Blow Holes Point Quobba camping area during the December holliday times. Esspecially just after Christmas to mid January. Are the camping spots hard to get or is there plenty of room during this time?
Written 15 June 2015
We were there in January this year and the area was not full at all, mainly due to the heat which can be up around the 40 degree mark. There are 2 places to camp. You can either camp at Point Quobba which has a lot of fishing shacks (no power or water) or you can go to Quobba Station. We chose Quobba Station as it was more appealing. There was only a $5 difference per night at Quobba Station (you have a choice of unpowered or powered. Powered is only for a couple of hours each day )and that provided showers and toilets.
