    Great base for wildflowers
We looked to cancel our booking in Bremer Bay after reading the previous reviews about the terrible road inside the park. We are glad we didn’t. For those as confused as we were when researching the holiday… the only paved road into the park is from Hopetoun. All the rest are gravel. We only drove part way on the gravel road from Bremer Bay into Fitzgerald, but the stretch we did was well maintained, though corrugated. As we only had a 2WD, we didn’t go too far, as the wildflowers were better on the roads outside! Even in mid September, the wildflowers were gorgeous. If you’re planning a trip just for the wildflowers, come in October.

    Fitzgerald river national park
Visited as a one day trip while driving from Esperance to Albany. We have a 2WD (RAV4 Toyota). Entered park via Hopetoun entrance and drove towards Hamersley inlet campground. This entire section was paved / bitumen roads, with no issues. Made numerous stops inc cave point (lookout and short walk), one of the beaches, and another viewpoint. From hamersley inlet to the eastern entrance/exit it is all corrugated roads with gravel on top. It’s about 50km and took us about an hour. We managed fine, and the roads were reasonable condition if you are used to driving on this type of road. Was a beautiful drive and well worth a visit if driving this way if have a car that is suitable. Beautiful nature scenery and flora

    Simply stunning national park
What a great national park. If the coastal scenery was not enough, the range and variety of native flora is just breathtaking. We visited both from the east in Hopetoun, staying four nights at the Four Mile campground and on a date trip to the west side of the park from Bremer Bay. Both highly recommended. There are lookouts, short and multi-day coastal walks, walks up to mountain lookouts, lakes, wildlife - mammals and birds, day use areas and simply wonderful flora. Access in the east is along a mostly sealed coastal road whilst within the park on the west, a bit of unsealed road driving is required. All worth it though. Would love to visit again in peak wildflower season.

The road into Port Ann from Bremer Bay direction is NOT 2WD friendly like they say it is. The corrugation was already horrific on the supposedly 2WD friendly roads into the national park and became undriveable on Point Ann Road. Even the 4WD we moved over for on the way back was shaking around like crazy. Make sure you have a good 4WD & let a bit of air pressure out before attempting to drive in to Port Ann. Perhaps when they're freshly graded that may make a difference. My poor car and internal organs! 😬

Staying in bremer bay for 3 nights recommended to drive to Point Anne and noted on local tourist map that it was suitable for 2 wheel drive vehicles. Arrived at the Park entrance were we paid the park day fee of $15 by auto machine. Headed into the park with great hopes of a walk and enjoying the views. Within 5 mins of leaving the payment station the road became severely rutted and corrugated (as noted in many posts over many months even going back to this time last year). So bad that after 10 mins had to turn round and return to BB.
Come on Fitzgerald River National Park, we have been locked in our state for two years, lots of residents have tried to support local tourist business so why isn't this road maintained?????

Roads in this park are a disgrace. Neglect by Park authorities is such that no entry fee should be paid….save the money towards repairing the damage to your vehicle. Any positive experience of the nature views is so readily offset by the access roads. Simple recommendation….just don’t go, until road neglect is rectified.

A short drive from Bremer Bay on half sealed roads, half gravel roads in a well maintained condition. An easy drive in 2WD took only 45 mins fully loaded with picnic and young kids. Great facilities including toilets, shelter and bbq at location, lookouts and short walks to view. We all thoroughly enjoyed the trip and experience. We missed the whales but came out of season. Would definitely come back again.

This is a stunning park with great views and good walks. Western Australia boasts some of the best wild flowers anywhere and here they abound. The Royal Hakea is stunning, but look out for small little flowers that abound. Beaches did you say? You won't find better and all with stunning back drops. Great places to stroll or have a BBQ or picnic.
From Hopetoun to Hammersley Inlet the roads are excellent and facilities very good, however after that on the dirt road things get bad. In fact it is disgraceful since you pay to go into the park and do not expect such a badly corrugated road. Quite frankly it is dangerous and overseas visitors not used to bad roads could find it very dangerous and damaging to their vehicles. Having traveled all over Australia on many roads, this is one of the worst. That is why I did not rate you 5 out of 5. Pity as all is is perfect.

Awesome park for endemic flora and fauna. The east side is paved and easy to access from Hopetoun. Most of the scenic areas are easy to find and ample bathrooms and bbq areas for comfort. The west side is corrugated road so be prepared to take longer to explore. We definitely enjoyed driving the northern roads (corrugated but don't need 4WD) to look for wildlife. We saw heath monitors, dragons, emus and more! Great way to see the whole park. No one at the entry points so it helps to listen to the podcast and stop to read the info signs.

Fantastic plant life. Amazing views from the mountains/hills. Enjoyed the Mount Barren climb and Point Ann. Originally planned to visit Quaalup Homestead but it was closed to visitors, which was very disappointing. As noted by others, roads were typical gravel, and rough even in 4WD,
