Please note, due to a change in ownership with Pauline and Richard retiring, The Balingup Lavender Farm is now a Private Residence and not open to the public. We are continuing harvesting and making beautiful oils with our lavender and intend to wholesale and/or make our product available online for purchase. We arrived on a hot day when owner also looked hot & frazzled. We had the lavender ice cream which was ok but none of us finished it.
There were some nice shady spots in pretty garden but overall we were slightly let down.

the farm is quiet, serene and really picturesque when all the lavender flowers are in bloom. For a small token fee, you are welcomed to roam around the gardens and enjoy the scenery and appreciate all the flowers. Unfortunately lavender is a summer flower and blooms mainly in December which is summer in Australia. So it can get a tad hot if you plan to visit. Be sure to bring sunnies or a cap or something just to add a small level of comfort for yourself. Plus side : you can order home made lavender ice cream and enjoy the fresh cool taste in the hot weather!

Attracted to the Balingup Lavender Farm by the promise in the Festival's brochure of 'tea, lavender biscuits and lavender ' served on the verandah and the opportunity to view 'the abundant birdlife. No tea, no biscuits, no lavender icecream and no birds. A well planned garden with some interesting individual specimens but needs a good spruce up for inclusion in The Festival of Country Gardens. Lawn properly mown, some edging work and some raking up.Interesting material in the distillation room but the photographs and information sheets which form the display were dirty and dusty and needed a good wipe down. So much potential but...maybe the owners are worn out.

If you like lavender it's the place to go. Quaint cottage garden to wonder through enjoying a variety of plants including lavender plants. Then treat yourself to a delicious Devonshire Tea and check out the lavender products.

a bit of disappointment for us. we thought we will have a sea of lavender, but unfortunately the owner was telling us that it was not in season.
however, with the size of the garden and the plant numbers, i don't see how this is going to become a lavender sea.
i have taken some photos, so see for yourself :)

The main flowering period is Nov and Dec.
Distillation takes place during this time
The garden and smaller paddock is for visitors but the main production crop is further along the valley viewed from the main road.and not accessible by visitors because of the location of the irrigation dam.

On arrival we were greeted and offered a tour of the Lavender Oil extraction process and then a tour of the wonderful garden. The products for sale in the cottage shop were of high quality and well priced. We left feeling very relaxed from the Lavender experience and enriched with knowlegde from the very dedicated and passionate owner.

Lovely way to spend some time on our recent camping trip to the area...Whilst the lavender was in flower in the farm garden, the harvest had taken place in the main field some time earlier...Quaint,Interesting shop stocking a multitude of products featuring the farm's product. We left with some lavender honey which contains edible lavender oil, as the flavour would not be strong enough, if left entirely to the bees. A small snippet of the information kindly imparted to us by the kind and accommodating owner. The garden makes a lovely photo venue ! In the work shed at the farm entrance is the lavender oil still, the only oil still in W.A. We were kindly provided with a full run down of it's operation, in what is a fascinating process ! Balingup Lavender Farm is a lovely place to visit and to leave with an unique souvenir from the farm shop.

We visited the lavender farm and thoroughly enjoyed it. The flowers were wonderful and garden and shop were well worth the visit.
The owner is friendly and was most helpful. He discussed the processes and took us through many of his products.
The jams are excellent as are the cut/dried lavender. A great local producer.

Hi Patty, I just looked at the Balingup lavender farm review of yours. You have positive things to say, and you enjoyed the visit, so why have you given them a 1 star rating, that means you think its terrible. 1 star is like you hated it. I'm a business owner, I know I would be a bit upset with 1 star. I don't think that was your intention though. Maybe its worth another look?
P.S I am not affiliated with them, I don't even know their names and have visited once. All the best :)

May be the visit was during the non flowering season when all the lavender is dormant
The garden is always attractive whatever the months Sept to April
