Abbey Gardens

We were here in February so the gardens were a bit uninspiring due to the season. However the Valhalla collection was quite interesting.

We visited just after Christmas, early in the day, and were the only people there for the first couple of hours. Red squirrels were playing on trees near the entrance, some plants were in flower but obviously not as much as in the summer. Nevertheless it was well worth the winter visit.

If you're visiting Tresco, this is a must see. These gardens are my favourite. Every New Year's Day they do a flower count and it always surprises me that a British garden can be so abundant in January. I adore the shell grottoes and all the symmetrical paths up and down. The gardens were very quiet (it was November) and peaceful... the collection of figureheads from some of the wrecks around the islands was very interesting.

The gardens are lovely even in the autumn and the Valhalla Collection is most interesting and quite superb.

Beautiful gardens with exotic plants year round. Quirky figurehead 'graveyard' & interesting history. Expensive to access but worth the outlay.

A stunning garden with various terraces and great sculptures. Lots of echium and cacti type plants make this an unusual garden in the British Isles. Good café with shop make it a great day out. The rest of Tresco is easy to walk with views over the water and lots of stunning views. We were lucky with a balmy warm... More

Enter the Garden's and step into a magical world of plants and nature. Valhalla Museum is fascinating with its stories about the shipwrecks behind the sculptures. A garden full of mysteries ..... 10*
