If you're into locally crafted gifts & souvenirs then this is a must visit. We've never visited & not come away with some glassworks, jewellery, prints, or silkware. Definitely recommend the glass & silk. If you can't make it to Porth Mellon then Oriel Hicks...More

Thank you Mark. Yes, there is also Tamarisk Gallery in town which showcases some of the work from Phoenix and other work by either local artists or ones who have a connection to Scilly and love it.

Staying on holiday in Hugh town this place is nice to visit a group of 5 or 6 craft shops grouped together in one place. I bought some nice things. You can also do some work shops.

Thank you Susan. We don't all teach workshops, but more will next year I hope.

My stained-glass workshop experience with Oriel Hicks was simply fabulous. I learned so much and had a blast making a little glass boat that I still have, even though I made it about 5 years ago. Oriel was also very clear about safety as I...More

Several workshops with interesting gifts to sell, but nothing too unusual. Most things were a fair price, unlike some craft centres

We do all try to keep our crafts as original as possible and not follow trends on social media or craft sites, Sadly, it's not possible to tick everyone's box all the time.

Many different well presented crafts here. I would have loved to see more of the artists actually working.

Glad you liked the crafts. Sadly, the craft industries don't always pay that well, so most of the artists have other jobs and aren't in all week.

Spent a great afternoon with Oriel Hicks, learning how to make a stained glass sun catcher. I had long wanted to have a go at Tiffany glass, but to learn locally was very expensive. I had written to Oriel as I had hoped to goo...More

And a lovely suncatcher you made. Well done!

It's unusual to find a craft workshop in an industrial estate, but what a gem! A good variety of items for sale, top quality goods, friendly people. I bought far more than I had planned to, but now that I'm home I am delighted with...More

Thank you for your kind comments. There's plenty of variety with six different craftspeople working there!

I love to see local work created by people who love creating. Although there are not loads of different artists at work (maybe 8 or so) the standard of work that you see is skilled, imaginative and of good quality. Glass, ceramics, silk, felt, wood,...More

Thank you for your lovely review. Some of us also teach our art, so if you want to stay longer next time, please ask! If we're not too busy, you may learn a skill to keep you occupied for several hours.

Worth a visit if you like local crafts etc. Quite a few of them in this place but a bit out of the way.

We're certainly a bit off the beaten track and you have to look for us, but I'm glad you thought it worth the effort.

We visited this on a very wet morning but although opening at 10am did little to amuse us for more than 30mins, very disappointingMore

It was indeed wet! I remember. We fall between two categories really: in the morning we are working studios, making the crafts to sell from our individual units, which is our main income. In the afternoons, we are sometimes able to offer workshops in Tiffany...More
