- JohnRegoParkRego Park, New York1,242 contributionsA truly unique church experienceAn easy walk from the bus stop, this church provides an unusual artistic experience to the viewer. Generally one looks at the walls or ceiling of a church, but here it's the floor which is completely covered in ceramic tile. The tile shows the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, and dozens of animals. You walk along a narrow boardwalk to take in the details and then up to the choir loft to see a panoramic view. There is a very modest entrance fee. Cash only.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 October 2023
- Michael KSan Jose, California1,107 contributionsRare opportunity to view art on ceramic tiles on the floorIf you think about it, the whole idea is asinine. Instead of serving its purpose as a floor covering, the ceramic tiles were painted with art and now people have to walk on raised gangway around the tiles so as not to obscure the view or worse, destroy it. For the rare opportunity of viewing this piece of art, it is worth a visit. Don't forget to go upstairs for a bird's eye view as you won't see the whole picture at ground level; otherwise you will literally miss the forest for the trees.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 May 2024
- TimWandMelGAustin, Texas301 contributionsDefinitely worth a visit while you're in AnacapriOn returning from our chairlift trip up Mount Solara we visited the Church of St Michele Arcangelo close to the chairlift entry/exit. Definitely worth a visit to see the majolica tiled floor which covers the entire church ground floor and which you have to walk around via a raised wooden walkway to protect it from wear and tear and damage. You can also go to the second floor and view the whole scene in its entirety from above. The scene is the garden of Eden complete with the tree of knowledge under a starry sky, Adam and Eve, an angel and a host of animals and birds including some mythological ones. We had great fun figuring out which creatures the artist(s) had actually seen in real life and which he had to paint by making them up. We’re pretty sure he's never encountered a lion or an alligator unless in the time that these were painted they really did have human faces 😊Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 August 2024

Little church a bit secluded by the main street of anacapri, but is decorated With a magnificent 18th tiled floor whit a wooden passanway onto the border you can stroll on.
It is featured by adam and eve thrown out from the paradise, you pay a fee entrance of 2€, but really worth it.
You can also ascend on the first floor for a comprehensive sight.
A very surprise.

Definitely worth a visit. There are city maps in Anacapri, so you should be able to find this ( a little bit) out of the way church. The floor is amazing, and you walk around it on a wooden walkway, so that you can see it from all angles. Additionally you can go upstairs and view it in its entirety. This visit will take about half an hour, depending on lines to get in

A unique church just off main pedestrian street in Anacapri, most notable for the mural of Adam and Eve being cast out of Eden. Be sure to climb narrow spiral staircase to balcony which offers best views of floor/mural. Takes but a few minutes and definitely worth it.

What a surprise this small church was! Beautiful paintings in the chapels and unique tile floor depicting the expulsion from Eden and a number of animals. You can't walk on the floor but there is a convenient ramp wrapping the periphery of the sanctuary to be able to see everything. A lovely docent was happy to provide information (with limited English) once we expressed our wonder at the floor. Highly recommend stopping here.

We found this church down a side street and was a nice, unexpected surprise. I would make this on a list to visit in this town. Wonderful internal architecture and there was a docent on-hand to answer question in limited English (helps if you know at least some Italian). The floor is breathtaking and the organ is somewhat ornate.

The church is a bit away from the main alley, be careful not to miss the signs to it. There is another church with a similar facade, but this one is the one to be visited - with it very unusual majolica floor depicting “The expulsion of paradise”e. A little bijou!

When I came here I never expected to find such a beauty! This place is like anything else I had ever seen before. You visit the church but you mainly look at the marvellous floor completely cover in detail by outstanding hand painted ceramic tiles.
This is a must visit!
