Good wine tasting class however...

My husband and I attended the wine tasting class on a Saturday morning. He is Scottish, I am French. The class was led in both languages - great! However, the teacher seemed a bit... read more

Now this is the spot if you are a neophite and need advices on wine selection. As they do not belong to a specific estate, staff is friendly, helpful and passionated. We had an eonology class which we completed with the purchase of several bottles to drink and age.

My husband and I attended the wine tasting class on a Saturday morning. He is Scottish, I am French. The class was led in both languages - great! However, the teacher seemed a bit distracted as she had to switch from one language to another and had to skip a few explanations. Although I can't complain about the class being... More

No tasting opportunity but notes for each wine, giving vineyard size and grape mix. Worth a browse, include in a visit to beautiful St Emilion . Walking shoes and good knees recommended as cobbles and hills to manage. Plan to return

This is a convenient place to shop, if you know exactly what you want to buy. The staff are knowledgeable and there's a large collection of Saint-Emilion, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Lussac Saint-Emilion and Puisseguin Saint-Emilion appellations wines. If your in this region, you best choice is to visit the domaines that you adore.

Great selection of wines, and enormous range of years. Prices are the same you would get by visiting the vineyard. Downside is no tasting, so you need to know what you want without tasting. Also they do not ship to the States so for USA folks I recommend shop up the road, Vignobles and Chateaux.

This is a great place to buy Saint-Emilion wines. They have a wide selection of wines from many different producers and different price classes. On top of this there are wines from many vintages. By chance I bought some from the nineties and early 2000 at very descent prices. As a true wine freak I could spend hours in there... More

Great choice of wines from Bordeaux. Big variety of prices, and the good thing is that they can ship the purchase all over the world

Maison du vin has a large selection of Saint Emilion wines, including the some of the Saint Emilion satellites. Prices should be the same as in the Chateaus. They also sell some wine related souvenirs. You cannot try any wines here if that's what you are looking for you need to visit the Chateaus. .

I visited on a very sunny spring day in March and there were plenty of visitors to the town, but when I asked if there were any wines available for tasting I was told "non!" Yet another great customer attitude!! If you know nothing about St Emilion wines then go somewhere else to find out before coming here. That said... More
