We LOVED Quilotoa - it's definitely a must see when you're in the area! The hike down to the lagoon is nice and relatively easy to master - but don't forget that you need to go back up and you're still rather high above sea level! If you're not used to the attitude: don't under-estimate how exhausting the hike can... More

This was one of my all time favorite places to visit. We ended up camping overnight which does require your own gear, food, etc., but it was absolutely stunning. As long as you are totally pressed for time and in relatively good shape, you'll survive the climb. Views are breathtaking.

We stayed in Latacunga and took a bus from there early in the morning to get here. We walked to the right side up to the highest point, 3930m, an then we walked back to a wooden viewpoint to go down from there, walk inside the crater and back up via the main one. The views were amazing, the different... More

I'd recommend the rim hike. I did it with 2 travelers i met at the hostel I was staying at. Beautiful beautiful views. FYI- only a couple places seem to have wifi and I couldn't find an atm. I saw one place that accepted cards.

Visited with friends in February 2017. End of our abridged Quilotoa trek. We were concerned about weather- but got extremely lucky. It was partly cloudy but never rained, and never obscured our view of the lake. Chilly- we did the hike around the lake and I wore tights, boots, and a tshirt- but would recommend a jacket for when you... More

Awesome!and breathtaking. We truly love it and the food is great. We did a SOLO trip. Travel to Latacunga bus station ( its a very small station) took " Cotopaxi " bus to Quevedo, which stops in Quilotoa. Cost $2. In Quilotoa town we took a cab to the crater $2 PP. Park fee is $4 PP. The weather is... More

Awesome! We hiked to the bottom and back up. Be sure you have good shoes and healthy legs, but it is always possible to hire a mule/horse for $10.

It was raining when we arrived but soon cleared for a great view of the lake. The drive up was the best for us. Seeing how they work the land and live in this area was the most interesting part of the trip.
