The road itself to the lagoon is pretty amazing, changing landscape every some time. The lagoon itself at the bottom of the Fitz Roy mountain is beautiful, and if you climb up the hill to the left of it, you can see another lagoon at...More

I had planned to do this hike the day after I arrived as the advice was it was going to be the best weather. I was so pleased that some guys in my Hostel convinced me to go with them for sunrise as it made...More

This walk is so pretty, a must do if you are in El Chalten. We took the option of getting a van out to El Pilar, and starting there. You walk through forest with a gradual incline for about an hour. Then it flattens out...More

You do not leave El Chalten without doing this. The hike at the last km is very challenging but push yourself. You will be rewarded with the amazing scenery. If you are going during the summer as I did, go early. Put on layers so...More

I'm not an experienced hiker and wasn't sure what to expect by all of the suggestions that the trek is "challenging"! I would say that if you are in good physical condition - go for it (if the weather is good)! We did not start...More

This was my third time in El Chalen to hike in Los Glaciares NP here. The first time was in 2010 and our guide only took us up to Campamento Poincenot. The second time in 2015, we made it past the camp, across the river...More

We had a car (although one could use Uber as well) so we were able to plan a hiking route that would allow us to do a loop and not repeat hiking areas. We began 17 kilometers outside of El Chalten at Hosteria Pilar (a...More

The first hour is steep. Until you reach the last kilometer. THAT is steep... It takes almost an hour, but you will be rewarded. We are in our mid forties and it took 7 hours and 42-minutes to do the 10 kilometers

most of the hike is fairly gentle apart from the last km & it was a KILLER. 60 degree incline NON-STOP for an hour. Fortunately the views are pretty amazing at the end however I personally preferred the quieter & little known trek to Loma...More
