This a classic !!!!, If you are in chalten is a must do. The trekking is a 10 km round trip to reach the laguna, beware the last 1km is a very steep climb, requires good physical condition and patience but worth it because it has one of the best views of chalten

Amazing view on mount fitz roy.. great tough hike but absolutely worth it! Try to start the hike from el pilar (to avoid tracking the same trail 2 times, and the extra trail is very nice!)

Really nice walk and was probably my favourite of the two main ones in town. It is very easy to get to from town and then the path the whole way along is wide and clear. The first 2 or 3km are slightly uphill and then it's flat until a shelter. The final km up to the lake is very... More

When it came time to head back, my wife did not want to leave this place. I kept turning around to check on her and she'd be lagging behind because she didn't want to turn around. Now she keeps a picture of it on her phone to reclaim the sense of calm and beauty we found there. We did this... More

there is a second lagoon to the left, so continue up the next mountain face - don't just stop there. last bit is a little steep but otherwise hike isn't too bad.

We started this hike at Hosteria El Pilar and walked back to El Chalten. Really glad we did it that direction as the climb up from town would have been really steep. The first part is through a lenga forest, which helped to calm the wind. Every now and then we would get a view of the glaciers. We stopped... More

The hike to Laguna de los Tres is beautiful. This can be done as an out and back hike from El Chalten, but we got a bus ride to El Pilar and walked back to El Chalten. The side hike to the viewpoint for Mount Fitzroy is only for those with good knees, as it is very steep. But the... More

We loved this hike! It was quite tough, but the views are definitely worth it! It is 8km each way, and the last kilometer is very steep - you have to ascend 400m, but the path is fun - you walk through forests, pass a river, we even had a short snow storm on the way there, then at the... More

You'll need to set aside an entire day for this trip. The last 1.25 km of the hike is the toughest part, with very steep slopes, and slippery rocky ground. At times, the wind was so strong that I almost felt being blown off. It was quite tough, and I had to take breathers along the way. However, the view... More
