This part of the island is totally different from the landscape anywhere else on this "sandy dot in the middle of the Caribbean Sea". The land is like that of an alien environment, and the sea is just plain wild! A mixture of foreboding and exhilarating under the intense rays of the Aruban Sun. Wear sturdy shoes!

Great place to walk around. Near the northern coast. Watch out for cacti and those thorny bushes, but great views to the north. You can hear the surf as well.

We stumbled upon the dunes while visiting the lighthouse and had the best day driving ourselves down the sand paths. We meandered for hours, stopping at the beaches, hiking up the mountains, and taking it'll in. It's a great way to spend the day. Get a map and a car and go explore!

It was incredibly fun to beat up our rental Jeep on these dunes. Situated below the California Lighthouse, the California dunes roll along the coast on the northern shore of the island. Really a must-see attraction when you visit the island.

I spent a couple of hours exploring the lighthouse and the dunes. The dunes are restricted to non-motorized vehicles but you can drive on the marked roads in the area. The contrast between the rocky beaches and turbulent water on the east side vs the groomed sandy beaches and flat water in the hotel zone is spectacular.

I would recommend renting a vehicle to,explore the whole island, prefer a jeep since you can go close to all the beaches. This place is beautiful, private and a beautiful place to relax, and enjoy!

If you are traveling to Aruba, you must go and check this side of the island out! We took a UTV out her and it was a great experience! Please do yourself a favor and check this out if you are traveling to Aruba!

This is beautiful to drive to to enjoy the scenery!! You can get great photos from here. :) The waves crashing on the shoreline make for excellent pictures.

We pulled over and started following trails until we finally, and I do mean finally, arrived at the shore. There are plenty of trails and some lead to the shore faster than others. As we meandered through the area we saw tons of lizard trails in the sand, an area that was clearly some sort of informal animal cemetery, little... More
