Part of the New York State Parks Commission, a beautiful park of over 19,000 acres to hike, kayak, fish and learn about this little hamlet of years gone by

About 4 1/2 miles. Entrance near the Visitor's Center pass briefly by a residential section to the West and a Environmental Research Center to the east. The hike was West to East registered having 21 flights on my phone. The blue markers were excellent.

We did struggle to find the signage to the visitor center, however once there, excellent knowledgeable staff, great hiking.

We've hiked Harriman trails a lot but this was our first time going into the Sterling Forest Park. The new (6 years old) visitor's center is amazing and the volunteers really know the hikes and the area. There is a huge topographical table plan of the whole park that shows you where each hike takes you. We did the moderate... More

Within diving distance from NYC and NJ, this is a beautiful park, just off the lovely palisades parkway. It is huge but well mapped. We did the 4 mile loop trail around the pond with a bunch of friends. It is beautiful, well-preserved nature. The trails are clean and easy to navigate either for walkers or joggers. The visitor' center... More

My family and I have been a fan of this Renaissance fair for about 18 years now, we go every year. However, we've been so busy this summer that we didn't go until the last weekend....This was a mistake. If you go on the last weekend, your money isn't worth it. They were out of so many foods that we... More

I see some reviews about a Renaissance Fair and tickets to get in? That's not what Sterling Forest is all about. I'm sure they host a fair some time in the year but I've never been to said fair. I have visited Sterling Forest to enjoy the scenic forest and lake views. The hikes are wonderful. Here's the review I... More

We just stopped in at the visitor center as I have spent much time in this area volunteering over the last 10 months and have seen the signs for this park a number of times. The employee on hand was very friendly and very helpful, we were really impressed. The visitor center is beautiful, modern and amongst the nicest I've... More

Easy, 2 hr hike around lake. It was hot so we were happy to walk in the shade. Stop by the visitor center and the park guides will give you good tips.
