The Lyndhurst is impeccably maintained. It fashions one with a glimpse into Old Money New York Society. An American history lover's dream. The grounds are unbelievable. Ireland-level green, at least in the summer. It is beautiful.

We all like going to the mansion tours of the by-gone era and Lyndhurst Castle is no exception; as the original home of William Paulding and then of Railroad tycoon Jay Gould (a Vanderbilt rival) it truly measures up. However, the castle tours only scratches the surface of the versatility of this property. Recently we revisited Lyndhurst one evening on... More

The tour was very informative and interesting, and want to go back when the tour allows you to go up into the tower, our tour was more of a holiday decorations tour and quite beautiful! We will back for sure!

We decided to take a holiday tour the Friday after Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. The house is decorated for the holidays which was nice (though period decor would have been cool!) Our guide was fantastic with his story telling and information about the house. There were very interesting features of the house and it's design that you have to... More

My daughter and I toured Lyndhurst on a busy Saturday after the Xmas decorations had been put up. Our tour guide, Peter, was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He kept the historic information interesting and entertaining. The home is spectacular- I would have liked to see the kitchens though. Photos are encouraged which was a nice change from most historic homes.... More

This is a beautiful home. Unfortunately the ground floor was decorated for Halloween and it really took away from the character of the home. Maybe it looked better at nite but it was not very well done. (the outside decor was good though) The upstairs was unadorned and was very interesting. The guide seemed very knowledgeable but got hung up... More

We were here for the Halloween and it was raining, made the experience all the more authentic. Actors were great very professional, and they have a different theme every yr so be sure to check them out. We had fun, totally different experience! No cameras allowed inside, though.

The day we visited (get tour tickets in advance), we were lucky to have a top notch guide who was well versed in art, customs and architecture of this "house" - ok, Castle - during the time of its hay-day. Magnificent building in a magnificent location....you can see the Tappan Zee bridge to the right. We were also lucky to... More

I booked during the Halloween season and thought the Halloween twist would make it more interesting. Not knowing what that meant, I was disappointed once we saw that the home was decorated with cheesy Halloween decorations. Our tour guide explained that he was a "purist" and had to point out what was original to the home and what was decorations... More

What a fun beautiful place. We went for a Halloween event the decorations were beautiful and the actors were very entertaining. I would love to go back for the regular tour.
