What used to be a land fill has morphed into a huge Park serving NYC. The Freshkills Park has a great deal to offer and will be larger than Central Park when it is complete

Feels like you are anywhere but New York City. Streams, hills, greenery, birds, 'country roads", and a knowledge docent make this a exciting , worthwhile experience.

This was the largest landfill in the world! It was open for a very long time. The methane that seeps through this ground is poison. Please don't visit this area! Certainly never move to this area and don't let your children walk through this park...More

as a life long resident of staten island i have to just say this was part of a dump as recently as 10yrs ago. methane gas has been removed but i just see it has a i remember it as a dump.
