The boardwalk is a great place to get a good walk in and enjoy the views of the coastline. The city has done a good job repairing and maintaining it for walkers and joggers to enjoy.

The boardwalk runs along South Beach with great views of NJ Highlands and Coney Island. Farther east is Fort Wadsworth; now part of the National Parks system and less trafficked. Great all year round for quiet walks. A real treasure.

This boardwalk is a serene place to walk or just sit on a bench & watch the boats pass by. The beach season is officially over for this year so there are no lifeguards on duty nor is the concession stand open. Bring your own...More

We stayed on Staten Island during our visit to NYC and enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk and beach. Would have loved to see a couple of cafes on the boardwalk itself offering coffee etc but we found a side street nearby with great...More

This has to be one of the nicest open ocean beaches within easy access of Manhattan. It is machine groomed and patrolled, so it is clean and safe. Yet there is enough beachcombing to do that any mid-western kid can learn about clams and whelks...More

There is not much on the boardwalk itself but there is a lovely view of not only the ocean, but of New jersey, Brooklyn and Manhattan not to mention the Verrazano Bridge. Only one small food area and a large restaurant. Bikes to rent and...More

This is a good place to get away from the big masses of people. You can relax on the beach, rent a bike or grab some food.

After the damage of Hurricane Sandy, everything has been rebuilt. The (real boards) boardwalk is more than one mile long, and perfect for walking while watching the entrance to New York Harbor. Several new waterside restaurants are here, so you have a nice choice of...More

Nice place to visit on a weekend or during the sunny day. I enjoyed the walk with the views of the ocean, the bridge and the NY skyline very much.

Best to ask NYC Parks Dept., for NYC parks, and Red Park Rangers for federal areas, because on wach if BBQing is unauthorized in any particular area, they come out with their ticket books ready, and those tickets are not for... More

It is easy however it may take about 25-35 minutes to get to the boardwalk. You'll need to take bus S51 or S52 from the St George Ferry Terminal to one of the bus stops alongside the boardwalk.
