This is one of He unique spots on Staten Island. If you want to venture East try going here.. not really suited for children but definitely a contemplative experience for adults...

The best museum displaying Tibetan Art outside of Tibet. The museum's display teaches you all about Tibetan Art and culture. The space gives you a feeling of tranquility.

While far from the city, the Tibetan museum is worth the visit with a wide array of artifacts housed in the eclectic home of Jacques Marchais, a Tibetan enthusiast. Big stone rooms give way to a beautiful garden and patio. They also have events that are worth looking into.

the museum claims to be the most comprehensive and quantitative museum of tibetan art and artifacts in the world outside of tibet. its setting alone, atop lighthouse hill, is alone worth the trek. check times and days, as it frequently closed, and i don't think open at all during the winter months. bus # 74 leaves you at the bottom... Jacques Marchais was my grandmother. And very little of her story is as it seems. After leaving her first family, she remarried, was given a NY gallery, and assumed the name of the gallery as her own. Suffice it to say, her second husband bankrolled her love of Tibetan Art and in doing so, a unique collection was preserved. The... More

A bit of a hike to get to if you are not familiar with Staten Island but worth making the pilgrimage to this extraordinary and surprising Museum. There's a great history to how this was temple was built on the steep hillsides of surprising Staten Island.

Now Staten Island has a lot of hidden treasures but the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art is a treasure that all should visit. Its a bit hard to get to but certainly worth the trip. It has even... More

There's not a whole lot of interesting things to see or do on Staten Island, and this place is very small, but houses a very unusual collection of Tibetan art that is unique. Good way to kill an hour or so on a rainy New York day.
