We visited in the Fall of 2019, but I guess I forgot to write a review when we got home. I've done a considerable amount of mansion tours over the past 30 years including in RI, but I think this may have been my favorite mansion tour on the east coast. The mansion was spectacular, the art collection was phenomenal but the gardens, grounds, sculpture art, views. . . just breathtaking!! I loved every moment, even the carriage house and large vehicle collection. I was only sorry that the children's playhouse was not available to tour. It's a little pricey to tour, but well worth it. I understand it was closed during Covid, so I would certainly make sure the place is open for tours again before going.

We were so disappointed with pretty much most of the Hudson Valley from Sleepy Hollow through FDR, Vanderbilt, ValKill, Culinary Institute of America. Everything is CLOSED. Everything. We came from Philadelphia where its now 100% open. Cape May New Jersey and Wildwood - all open. Traveled to Connecticut and up through Maine - OPEN. What is going in in Upsate New York??? What a wasted 300 miles.

Too bad it is closed due to Covid. The home of John D Rockefeller.
I understand, it has a great collection of sculptures, ceramics, and period furnishings.

Also the grounds and gardens are magnificent.

A must see for anyone living in or visiting Tarrytown or Sleepy Hollow! Several different tours available, but don't miss seeing all the old Rockefeller vehicles!

The estate sits on a high bluff overlooking the Hudson River and valley making for a spectacular view. The gardens and statuary are as interesting as the mansion.
Tours are precicely timed with the guides being closely monitored to ensure an even flow with no back ups.
As opulently furnished as this mansion is, it lacked the warmth of a home. It was more of a display of wealth and society than of living conditions
Remember to bring your camera. Tote bags and pocketbooks are not allowed.

This was the Rockefeller estate. It was very large estate, very well-kept. The most impressive piece of what I saw there was the art collection. The rooms were filled with lots of furniture in just as the Rockefellers would have used while occupying the mansion, lots of elegant, expensive, unique pieces all over the house. I took the grand tour which was very informative. It covered lots of ground which included the gardens, the art collection, the carriage house, the main house covering different floors. The art collection included many different pieces a lot of Picasso’s (tapestries, paintings and metal work) and other famous artist but most of the collection was reproductions. Most of everything that was in the collection was modern art. However there was some renaissance art. The gardens were unique in the idea that they had lots of art that helped emphasize the gardens such as sculptures in other types of art forms one of the things that I thought was very interesting was a table and chairs that was in the form of mushrooms. Where the mansion was built was unique in the fact that everything was aligned artistically so looking out the windows you looked at the Hudson river over the tops of trees that made it look like a painting. Another thing that I found interesting was the different rooms that were very technically advanced for the period. The rooms had lighting that was not available to the average person. The mansion also had an intercom system in every room which connected directly to the domestic helps’ quarters which was close to kitchen.

Simply fabulous! Words can't adequately describe how awesome this tour and our tour guide, Maura was. Although it was pouring rain, the beauty of the mansion and grounds were breathtaking. Maura shared her deep knowledge of the property and the Rockefeller family and was an absolute delight! The art collection and sculptures were amazing. My husband and I can't wait to go back and do the Grand tour. If your plans take you to Sleepy Hollow, this is something you must not miss!

We made a very early start to catch the train heading out to Kykuit from NYC. The place was breath taking, the art collection is as good as any first class museum, the grounds are amazing with sculptures every where, and we were so happy we took the early tour. The tour for 2 1/2 hours was perfect. I have toured many mansions and Kykuit has the most fantastic art work of all. The tour guide was a delight and easy to listen to and had lots of stories to tell us.

What a breathtaking mansion! I've done many mansion tours, but I think this may well be my favorite. We took the grand tour. Photos inside the mansion are not permitted. The rooms, furnishings, artwork, and Asian ceramics, are amazing. The architecture is wonderful. The gardens (so many!) are spectacular, with sculpture art and fountains all around the property overlooking the Hudson and valley. The personal art collection is exquisite, especially the Picassos. There is just so much to catch the eye. Our tour guide was very informed, although almost a little too knowledgeable and clearly educated in art appreciation. The tour also included the fabulous carriage house and garage with an extensive horse and carriage collection and amazing antique car collection. My only criticism is that I wish another hour had been added to allow for a tour of the "playhouse", a large tudor-style building on the property that is visible from the tour bus. I would love to do the tour again in late spring/early summer when the gardens are in bloom.

Excellent tour/tour guide. Lots of detail and deeper knowledge. Handled the crowd very well and showed a nice amount of enthusiasm for the material.

The art was fantastic. The views among the best. Architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, landscaping. This tour had it all!

Will take another tour with her, definitely!
