About
This sculpture park was intended to house the works of the designer, but the setting itself became the artist's masterwork. It is possible to visit by appointment on non-open days.

This is a very unique place to visit and worth a detour if you are spending a weekend in the Saugerties or Rhinebeck area. The man transformed a blue stone quarry into an artistic monument using only the flat stones of the site. As it...More

Plan to spend the day here. It's is truly breathtaking. It's almost meditative. I wish I could have met the brilliant artist behind this place. I can't even fathom how he envisioned and/ or executed these phenomenal sculptures. I really can't wait to go back....More

Archeologists in the future will likely be scratching their heads over Opus 40. What was its purpose? Who built it? This makes it that much more interesting to know who made it and why. Almost maze-like, this sculpture park takes you through layer upon layer...More

Opus 40 is an amazing place. Earth art at its finest. The stone work is masterful. The only reason I didn't give the review 5 stars is because the porta potties were not the best. I did not know the park did not have facilities....More

Spent about an hour or so at this amazing outdoor art installation. You can walk around it, on it and view other sculptures in the semi-wooded areas. A short film describes the story; also there's a small museum. Very interesting.

This special attraction is beautiful, and has gorgeous views of the mountains. It was built utilizing at an old mine, and actually has a small miners' museum there which shows a film about the sculptor Harvey Fite, and exhibits mining tools as well. Opus 40...More
