This place is like taking a trip to a museum. It is the life work of a talented stone artist, Harvey Fite. Working in his quarry for 40 years, the work of art is the stone quarries vast and glorious architectural structure. Maintained lovingly by his family. OF COURSE THERE IS AN ENTRANCE FEE, IT IS A BEAUTIFUL MUSEUM. Absolutely... More

We decided to tear the kids away from the electronics and get outside somewhere so we visited Opus 40. It's nearby and I'd never been there before. The fact that this place is one mans vision and that he did most of this all by hand mostly alone is incredible. The dedication that it takes to accomplish that alone is... More

This place was disappointing. It was a marvel to see the work one man accomplished and his dedication but it was just an old building and a giant layered stone patio.

Scenery is great, Sculptures are very interesting. Signage is terrible. We did not pay $10 admission but don't know their policies. Very talented artists. Other areas of the village about 8 miles away have many antiques and restaurants. Worth a stop by..

My boyfriend and I, on a beautiful day, decided to stop by and see Opus 40. We had a hard time finding it because of the signs, but then finally found it. As we were driving through the small parking lot a man stepped out in front of our car, cell phone pressed to his ear, and yelled/gestured for us... More

This has to be one of the coolest finds we have made. When ever I'm on a scouting trip with the boys we look for something cool in the area to go see on the way home as a side trip since we are already out and usually in no real rush to get home. It was a beautiful October... More

Poor signage, pointed us in the wrong direction, there was a barking terrier that bit my leg, the owner yelled at us for not knocking on the unmarked door and paying our $20 each right away, didn't seem overly concerned about the dog that bites, said she hates dogs anyway, then finally admitted the dog was hers

We travelled in late October and the fall foliage was still in abundance. When arriving at Opus 40, you must go to registration first. The cost for adults is, $10 per person. We then went into the museum, which holds all the tools Harvey Fite used to build this amazing sculpture garden. Amazing that a man spent 37 years building... More

We stumbled upon Opus 40 while in Woodstock. Amazing man made stone work with walkways and statues. Bring lunch and enjoy this quiet stone sanctuary. We will be back
