We initially dismissed this campground based on past reviews, but based on a relatives recommendation that it was under new ownership, we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. The couple managing the mine and campsite, Joel and Billie Jo are amazing....More

The campground was quiet, small yet suitable. The digging for Herkimer diamonds was a blast! One of us hammered rocks apart, the other perused the ground - both ways we found small crystals for just a few hours of "work". The owners are super friendly...More

We've only been going to Crystal Grove the last few years, but we love it. It has a more natural, woodsy setting than others, with shady sites, several walking trails, and a cheerfully splashing stream. The facilities are good and well maintained, the play area...More

There were several different sites where we could mine, and parking was easy. There are outdoor play areas for kids that are close to the mining area. They also have cabins, but we didn't stay overnight. Definitely recommend it if you enjoy banging on rocks.

After being on the road for 10 hours (took an hour off for sit down dinner) we arrived late, tired, after dark. We didn't anticipate speed limits of 50 & 55 MPH on the NY Turnpike because of contruction. (Highly recommend the turnpikes, yes there...More

I went here for my birthday on a Thursday. I love gems and minerals and have never gone "digging" for crystals before. What a great spot. The store is lovely with lots of reasonably priced crystals and rocks for sale. Evan, who attended to us...More
