This former railway bridge is an interesting but inhospitable environment for strolling. Views of the water from above, the cityscape on one side, the landscape on the other, but no place to sit down, fine if you are in a hurry on a bike or at a run. Be aware that this stark hardscape walkway absorbs heat in warm weather,... More

I love the walkway, and I visit a number of times during the year. I prefer biking, but depending on how crowded it is, this can be a little tricky. You definitely get to enjoy more of the great views while walking. You can't beat the colors on the Highland side in the fall! I also enjoy the fireworks for... More

Very nice views and an enjoyable walk. We have been boating on the Hudson for years and always see the walkway from the water. My wife and I decided we should see it for our self. Great views both north and south. The day we went in August was warm and beautiful and the walkway was buzzing with walker, bicyclists... More

If you are staying in or traveling through the Hudson Valley, don't pass up the chance to take a stroll across the Walkway over the Hudson. Formerly an old railway bridge, this span was transformed into a beautiful walkway over the Hudson River connecting Poughkeepsie and Highland NY. Walkers and bikers alike enjoy the breathtaking views of the river valley... More

We walked across on a winter day and it was beautiful. Quiet and peaceful even with many pedestrians and dog friends. It is the perfect way to spend an hour.

The walkway gives you a great view over the Hudson River and with the expansion of the trail on the Poughkeepsie side it makes for a great workout.

Beautiful views of the Hudson River, easy walk across but bring some water, it can get hot in the sun. Parking can be a hassle on the street.

A great walkway which was wide ,clean and had many places to read about the history of this place. The amazing views and the tree colours were a real treat and we especially liked listening to the goods trains as they tooted along beneath us.
