McAllister Park is a lovely inlet protected from the wind of the Long Island Sound. The car parking is pretty well non existent, so you would have to plan your time going there. However if you make it, maybe like me you may be shocked...More

Amazing views, peaceful surroundings! Cannot believe we have never been here prior. Just adhere to the parking rules or you'll come back to a ticket. We went during the week just before sunset and had not trouble finding a spot to park

The park is beautiful and secluded. The water is really calm and it's nice to climb to the top of the dunes to get a higher up view of the place. There are no bathrooms or things of the like here, so plan accordingly. It's...More

I recently moved to the area and found this cool area (or what I thought was a cool area). You drive through a really pretty gated area out front and you can find some hidden gems, BUT we aware that you basically cannot stop or...More

This place is one of my favorite local spots. However, make sure you only park in the designated lot (only about 7 spots or so) otherwise you WILL get ticketed. It is a short and beautiful walk from the lot to the bluffs.... be prepared...More

This hidden gem located in Belle Terre at the end of Cliff Road is a great walk on the Beach, the only drawback is that there is parking for 4 vehicles on a pitted and uneven dirt area. This area is heavily patrolled by the...More

Called "Pirates' Cove" by local teens this is a lovely spot in a somewhat hidden area. There is a small beach with surrounding dunes but no apparent facilities. Plan ahead to carry out trash etc. and note that the parking limitations are strictly enforced.

Checked out McAllister Park with the intention of hiking/walking but found that this was not possible at high tide. The cove is quite lovely and private but be aware that there is no beach to speak of at high tide, so no place to walk...More

I am not sure. I have a general impression that they "close" at sundown but it could just be based on what many parks do. In a couple of weeks I'm heading up for a short stay in Poquott & I know I'll be visiting the park so... More
