The Delorde house was recommended by the U.S. Border agent on my way into the States. The place is very well maintained with plenty of original artifacts. What really made the visit special was the volunteer who gave us a tour. She was able to provide us with the background of all of the family members who had lived at... More

Interesting house near Lake Champlain with history going back further than War of 1812. Lots of original furnishings and collections. Visited it on a rainy Sunday afternoon. One caveat, this house is normally not open on Sundays (and Mondays) and we were lucky to find it open for "Museum Days" in Plattsburg. A short walk away is Lake Champlain and... More

For any history enthusiast, a stop by the Kent Delord House is a must! I took advantage of their seasonal open house today in order to take a peak inside. Although I own an historical home in Plattsburgh, it's a real treat to see another period house furnished as it might have once been in the past. Fortunately for all... More

We drove up from Lake Placid on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and were looking forward to visiting the KD House Museum and learning more about Plattsburgh. The Plattsburgh City website claims that this place is open year round so we were very surprised to see a sign at the house saying that it was closed for the season. Sadly, as... More

While attending the Bicentennial celebrations of the Battle of Plattsburg in the War of 1812, those who purchased buttons for the various activities were given free admission to the museum. A very friendly and knowledgeable docent gave an excellent tour of a home that was build well before the war, and during the attempted British invasion from Canada, was used... More

Excellent flower garden. Lots of history of the area and activities during the war of 1812. Great park across the street with expansive lawn down to the Saranac River and Lake Champlain. Nice picnic spot.

Stopped by with my wife for a tour and was told it will be 1 hour until the next tour. I said " I guess I'll just" and was cut off with "there is no just, you must leave now. You may come back in an hour" and her back was turned to my face. I did not come back.... More

We apologize for the rude hostess. The Kent-Delord House Museum is able to run because of our volunteers, and our docents/tour guides are all volunteers. We hope that you do not take the behavior of one of our volunteers to represent the attitude and views of this institution as a whole. We invite you to come back to the Kent-Delord... More

Very nice authentic recreation of family and garden life in the 18oo's. Many performances are given throughout the year consisting of mainly local school and local musical groups. Battleground reenactments for the Battle of Plattsburgh during the war of 1812. A nice place to visit.

This is a nice home to visit as well as the grounds. The house has a lot of history and the folks that run it are very educated in explaining the history of this nice home, very interesting to see how people lived way back when.
