This may be a tiny museum, however it is loaded with interesting history and information. Sometimes there are special ships docked right nearby as well. A bit of underground history is there also besides maritime information.

The museum at the end of the pier is full of information you may not know about life on the water, and has a lot of interactive displays. There are several moored boats that you can tour with a guide. There is a trip offered taking you out to the lighthouse. The trip is worth it because the views from... More

Great historical displays done with recovered artifacts. A great place to learn local history. Tour the tug LT-5 at the dock.

Wonderful place developed by a great person. The founder was a theater professor at SUNY Oswego, who was also town historian. She loved history, and this museum captures her love and gives voice to a little known part of American history.

I visited the Oswego Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse today. The $20 ticket included a visit to the H. Lee White Marine Museum, a pontoon boat ride to and from the lighthouse and a guided tour. Advance reservations are required and each tour is limited to 6 passengers, so plan ahead. The Lighthouse is a restoration in progress and the tour... More

The Oswego lighthouse is now open for trips. Our family were lucky to go on the first trip open to the public. Great boat excursion and you have around an hour on the lighthouse to explore. Only 6 people on each tour, so real personal, no crowds. Great views and very knowledgeable volunteers, including an ex Coast Guard member who... More

A lot of information packed into this relatively small museum. Learn about the shipping industry, shipwrecks, lighthouses and more inside the building located on a pier. Then venture out to the two boats for a guided or unguided tour of a derrick barge and a WW2 LT-5 tugboat (the only one left in existence!)

Grandkids and grandparents really liked this museum. Lots of exhibits and explanations of Oswego's maritime history. Get to walk on a historic tug boat. The staff have a real love of the museum. I highly recommend this place.

We timed out visit perfectly! We were able to tour the museum and the tug boat with just our family and the wonderful volunteers! It is a fascinating museum with hands on things for kids as well as interesting facts! It was amazing touring the 1940's tug boat! It is worth the stop!

Fee to get in but it goes toward the maintenance of the museum. Some interesting exhibits especially dedicated to the waters of and around Lake Ontario. Very poignant pictures and stories of WWII refugees housed in Oswego.

Thank Thomas M
