Nassau County is in dire straits financially and the restoration village is suffering. Ed Mangano cancelled the candlelight evenings between Christmas and New Years this year...a big disappointment.

This is a bit of the Williamsburg experience, with a greater sense of involvement. It has seen better days, having declined some over the past decades, but is a fun attraction for kids.

Yes, there are picnic tables at OBVR. We left our food (in a cooler) in our car, and then ate lunch a few hours after arriving.
