I booked this show online for my Husband and I before we left to Santorini. I had picked a weekday and had been concerned it may be an empty show, I couldn't have been more wrong...this is a popular evening activity! The actors are always in character and are warm and friendly from beginning to end. You are "family" to them and they treat you like it! You don't pick your seats in advance, you'll be seated in prearranged tables of 2 and while I can't verify this - I think they seat you more front & center based on when you booked. Not to worry though, the show & the dancing travel all around the seating area so there is no bad seat. White wine is served & is unlimited - they went around multiple times to refill our little carafe at our table. Nobody's glass is empty unless you want it to be. The snacks provided are not a replacement for eating dinner before but the food is filling! Hummus, pita breads, Tzatziki, beans, potatoes, & more - delicious! The show includes dancing and singing from the actors and gradually they begin to include audience members. While they do encourage you to participate, nobody will force you on stage! We were seated right up front and asked to join other audience members, feeling a bit shy (Why? I don't know!) we politely watched instead. The 2nd time around, we said what the heck, got up and danced and had the best time! Reading through other reviews, I 100% agree - the show is definitely what you make it. Yes, it's a bit silly & a little cheesy, but that's what makes it fun! You are on vacation, after all. Plate smashing at the end was a highlight of the night. The actors are impressive, the dancing is skilled, and the singing was beautiful. My husband said he was impressed with how great a show it was, it was way better than what he expected when I told him "we're going to do a Greek Wedding Show tonight". Unlimited wine, filling snacks, your own table for 2, and an impressive show - you really get a lot for the price you pay! I 100% recommend this for anyone with a night in Santorini.

My boyfriend and I attended the White Door Theatro Papadopolous family wedding show in September of this year. I initially discovered this as a to-do option by seeing the great reviews on Trip Advisor, and was immediately intrigued. Upon realizing that nightlife activities in Santorini are relatively limited in variety (drinks out at a nice restaurant/bar aside), I immediately took to booking this event. I'm so glad we did! We had four days exploring Santorini and 14 days in Greece and were determined to take in as much culture as we could. This was a great, entertaining (and funny!) way to do this. The Greek wedding is a huge part of the Greek culture and it was so great to not only watch, but get involved and experience it first hand. We were brought on stage and taught to dance (never alone, you are never felt as though you are being put on display - and you can politely decline if you're not up for it), and the plate smashing at the end and dancing on the plates was great fun as well! Everyone gets involved in this lively, energetic night. The food was good (just mezes/small plates variety) and they kept the wine coming. The performers were very talented and super welcoming. Some amazing singing and music. Songs are in Greek but are so beautiful this way. All dialogue was in English. Even the lady taking tickets at the door couldn't have been warmer and more welcoming and professional. The setting is beautiful as well. The show is situated in a lovely courtyard surrounded by whitewashed buildings, open to the starry sky above. Just perfect. Our experience was wonderful from the moment we walked up to the door. We had prebooked and prepaid online, which I recommend as we were reserved at the best seat in the house (and I'm guessing that was why). Can't recommend it enough. Something to do in Santorini that will truly enrich your experience and will certainly beat another night out at the bar or chilling at the hotel.

We were very fortunate to have met Ms.Thalia (one of the artists of this show) on our visit to the village of Pyrgos earlier that day. She told us about this musical and invited us to the show. It turned out to be an amazingly fun evening of song, dance, laughter and good food/wine. We had never seen a Greek play, let alone participate in one. We sang and danced and ate and drank.... together with the performers. The Greek tradition of breaking plates on the floor has been etched in our memory forever. So much better than sitting at a bar/restaurant and wasting money on mundane stuff. This one is highly recommended !!!

Prior to entering the theater, you get a short story acted out that basically tells you there will be a wedding. Once you're in the theater, the wedding has apparently already taken place and you are watching the celebration. It is dancing......just dancing.....the entire thing. Okay it was fun to dance a bit and break plates, but I thought we would be seeing them act out a Greek Wedding and celebration, not just dancing. We were disappointed.

Dear Melissa, Thank you for taking your time and writing a review of The White Door Theatro. We were sad to hear you were disappointed with our show. The concept we created was an interactive musical to make people to participate and join a real Greek wedding celebration which consists of plenty of dancing, live music, wine and traditions. The day of the wedding is told through the music and different dance styles of Greece and at the end, as you mentioned, we break plates! A Greek church ceremony besides few aspects, do not distinguish so much from the western church events. Therefore, our intent is to bring to the audience what the Greeks are known better for: family reunion and great traditional party! Once again, we thank you for being a guest in our show! Best regards!

This show cannot be missed. An interactive show, happy environment, great actors/singers, nice music and atmosphere. It gives you a good taste of Greece, a good laugh and dance as well. A BIG WELL DONE TO ALL. Was a wonderful experience! Love from Malta!

My spouse and I visited in August 2016 and this is my unbiased opinion - the kind I would have liked to read prior to visiting.

The good: The event was organised well - from the wedding invitations, to the decor, the old-fashion laundry hanging from one of the windows. The staff members were very nice - tried to engage and include the public.

The bad: The event was presented as a Greek wedding but it felt more like a Greek ethnic singing and dancing fest. It lacked a background story - something to pull the whole thing together and to unite the public. All of the songs were in Greek and we had no clue what they were about. As for the food - it is not a proper dinner, it is more like nibbles so I would suggest having a pre- or post-event snack/dinner.

Overall: We enjoyed the event and had fun (cheesy fun, but fun). With the benefit of hindsight, would we have done it again if we could go back - probably not...

Pre-booked a few days in advance. Show is really enjoyable. The cast truly make it - all so smiley and enthusiastic and play their parts really really well. You enter the family home and watch a little scene play out, then get taken outside (take a jumper) and seated at tables in pairs - with wine and tradition nibbles provided. You watch the wedding - singing, dancing etc then all get dragged up to dance and smash plates. A lot of fun - everyone left with a smile on their face. Highly recommended.

This is truly the COOLEST thing to do in Santorini!! Seen the show several times now and it just keeps getting better and better! So FUN and entertaining!!--such talented young singers, actors and musicians--this cast does it all--while keeping your wine glass full and teaching you how to Greek dance too! You even get to participate in the lost art of plate-smashing,"OPA!!!" Too fun! And when you are departing the theatre you really feel like you've just attended a REAL Greek wedding and made welcome warmly into the family! Wedding favor "bonbons" as well make a great souvenir to remember your evening! The included light supper is very fresh and tasty as well with many traditional Greek tastes represented. Nice local wine included, too! The addition of their NEW gift shop with it's gorgeous selection of authentically "Made In Greece" products is also a mandatory pre or post show stop! It's so important to support artistic efforts such as the theatre and handmade crafts here in Greece, especially in light of current economics, and I applaud the White Door Theatro and Shop for doing their part for the Greek arts! BRAVO!!!

I think a lot of reviews say the same things, so here is some (hopefully) new info. We went in late May with my 2 college aged kids. I think if you have the right understanding of this show you will make a good choice whether to book. We are theatre nerds so this was right up our alley. Here are a few things to know:

1. You cannot drive to this theatre. It is in the middle of narrow, quaint streets bustling with shops. This could be an issue for someone with mobility issues.
In fact it was a 20 uphill minute walk from our parking.

2. This is NOT really a linear plot show with characters and scenes (other than a 10 minute introduction in the house). It's more of a variety show with wonderful song and dance. If you have teens, there are many modern hits sung also! If you are a dorky dad you can get drunk on wine and make your teens want to die of embarrassment.

3. This shows thrives on audience interaction. We got up and danced every time we could and had a blast. We talked with cast members when they came up to us. Not interested in that? Still enjoyable, but maybe a little less.

4. This has been said many times, but people often forget or ignore: THERE IS NO MEAL. We came after a light dinner and were very happy with the bread, cheese, watermelon, greek salad, and some wedding cake. If you go hungry you will be disappointed.

5. Dress casual. Most people did. If you get up and dance you will get hot. I'm not sure I'd wear sandals if you will be down by the plate smashing.

6. They encourage photos - most theatres do not.

7. I would book as early possible for the best views. They recommend booking through their website directly for preferred seating. The tables are snug so you will be near other families. When you get to the theatre they have you sit in a narrow hallway before entering the theatre. When they open the doors head for the staircase inside the house. You'll be really close to the opening bits and the mama will talk with you by the stairs! Pretty sure she was flirting with my 25 yr old son!

8. I'm not sure I'd recommend this night for children. There was nothing off color, it just might be a bit long for them starting at 9 at night. Do kids like love songs?

9. The beautiful venue is in an outdoor courtyard. If you go Oct - Early May, you may want a light coat or cardigan.

10. 100% performed in English.

The cast is incredibly talented - ESPECIALLY THE BAND! Yes this is corny, hokey and touristy, but it was one of our favorite things we did in Santorini!
