As part of the Discovery Pass, the Niagara Adventure Theater is a worthwhile visit while at the New York Niagara Falls State Park. The theater is located inside of the building where you get tickets to the Cave of the Winds and The Maid of the Mist boat ride. If you bought a 2014 Discovery Pass for $36.50 ($38 in 2015), you will need to take your on-line voucher to the ticket exchange building at the Park to get your tickets to each attraction. And, don't forget that your Discovery Pass includes the trolley ride which will easily transport you around the Park.
The movie showing at the theater is an excellent presentation of some of the history of the Falls. You will learn about the older lady who went over the Falls in a reinforced wooden barrel and about a young man who went over the Falls accidentally after loosing control of his canoe. I suggest that you go to the theater before going to the Cave of the Winds or the Maid of the Mist.
The theater building also has an area that sells souvenirs.

The adventure theater is located within the Visitor center very close to the falls. We had expected a modern IMAX movie in a documentary style, but this is a dated movie and doesn't feel very bright like those new HD documentaries. However, at 12$ a person, the movie is a good 30 minute experience. It shows a lot of history of Niagara from the perspective of people who discovered it and who tried to conquer it. The stories about barrel drops and people who fell in were very interesting, since I did not know about them. If you like documentaries, you can try it but it is not an extremely must-do kind of thing.

Purchased the Discovery Pass and the Adventure Theater was included. If I had not purchased the pass, would have been very unhappy. Without the pass, a ticket is $12 for an adult. The movie only lasted about 30 minutes. I was expecting a documentary about the history of the falls and how it was formed. Instead, the movie focused on some Native American legends and then spent most of the time discussing people that had gone over the falls or walked over it on a tightrope. My wife liked the move, but I found it boring and disappointing. In my opinion, the movie is not remotely worth $12, and I would not recommend that it be purchased ala carte. On the plus side, the line was short, and the theater was air conditioned.

This movie was very cheesy and boring. My son fell asleep, and if it hadn't been so unintentionally funny, I probably would have as well. I would skip this one.

My boyfriend and I bought the discovery pass (38$ per adult) which included 6 attractions, this being one of them. We chose to do this event last in our day in Niagara and it was a good choice. The move was very interesting and full of facts. You learn some pretty cool things and then some. It's fun for kids and there are some humorous parts (were 19 and got a few laughs.) I would recommend seeing this, and probably making this your last major event; it's nice to sit and relax and not have to move for a half hour. Definitely a good time here!

Start out with this before you do anything else in the Discovery Package or the Maid of the Mist. The teens in the group were reluctant to go, but once we saw the movie, we all kept referring back to it during the course of our other Niagara activities. It's interesting and you pick up a lot of facts that make you appreciate the area a bit more. Another suggestion - do the caves before you do the Maid of the Mist. You get waterproof sandals in the caves and a plastic bag to store your shoes. Then you can wear the sandals on the Maid of the Mist, so you can put your dry shoes back on for the rest of your day.

This 'film' was strikingly uninformative, and sometimes downright wrong on things as simple as historical dates. The acting was awful, the writing was worse and the theater presentation was even worse. Im apalled that a state park allowed this to be shown. Skip it, and save yourself a miserable 40 minutes

This movie gives a background story of the Niagara Falls... history that you should know before starting to explore this place... sadly it is over priced... see it only if you purchase the Discovery Pass... note to the management - with the technology and our tax money - can you invest into 4-D movie? it will be much more interested!!!...

Definitely see this movie before going on to the other attractions. The film was well done and educational. Our kids enjoyed learning about the legends and adventures of the falls starting with the first settlers and going through the barrel riders and miracle survivors. The information adds a lot to the Falls experience.
