Very unique place especially if you are into "unknown" history. The Guides were great although ours could have been more prepared. The guides also probably should have tablets or something to share information rather than notebooks.

The captain and his crew were very friendly and funny. They made us comfortable as a group of people who didn't know each other going into this creepy island. The tour guide was friendly as well. The views were beautiful and we all learned alot of interesting fun facts. This tour was on Halloween Eve so it made it even... More

This was a wonderful tour to take with such cool history. You can't go in the actual castle but the sights are beautiful and they are working on the structure that was the residence on the island and that you can go in. There are beautiful grounds, and while we went on the last day of the season that was... More

What a great tour. From check-in, the captain and everybody on the island to the tour guide, this is one great tour. Everybody who lives in New York or is interested in New York should do this tour. With the constant change in New York, few relics remain intact to show the history of the city as close as your... More

This is a great group tour of the island experience. Wear comfortable shoes for rugged mountain like hiking. Bring a notebook to take notes as the tour guides are excellent and very well informed. They share a ton of facts and stories. Pack a lunch or lots of snacks since you can end up being on the island for a... More

You don't need to drive up from the NYC Metro area, if you can get to Grand Central you're all set. Metro North's Hudson Line takes you to Beacon NY, a pretty 90 minute ride along the river. The boat to Bannerman's is practically next to the train station. If you're lucky, you'll find a tempting Farmer's Market in the... More

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. The boat ride to Bannerman Island was lovely. The tour was very comprehensive, with plenty of time to take beautiful photos. The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival performance by Jason O'Connell of his one-man show, Dork Knight was the perfect added bonus. A rating of Excellent seems inadequate, to be honest. Thank you all for helping us create... More

Truly a wonderful day trip from the cruise to the walk around the island and from the informative tour guide, Ken. It was a great piece of history especially being from the Hudson Valley area. Highly recommend for all ages.

We were a little familiar with - and curious about - Bannerman, but had never been able to get on the island to look around. Given that we knew it had been derelict and abandoned for 30 years, we went with modest expectations. But we were totally and happily surprised by all the improvements their hardworking volunteers have managed to... More
