High Tor State Park is a great, lil secret for those living in NYC! It has picnic/bbq areas, you can bring your own grill and while bbqing, you can go swimming!!! You pay $5 for the pool, but you can come and go as you please!! The park is clean and the pool doesn't usually get packed.

The view from the top of High Tor peak is breathtaking. After about a 45 minute walk (on pretty much flat terrain), you must do a tiny bit of rock climbing to get to the jagged rock peak. The view of Downtown Haverstraw (it looks like a little model train set from there), the Hudson Valley and Haverstraw Bay, New... More

The park contains two small mountains, and is closed for much of the year. However the Long Path goes through it and directions for parking, etc can be found on the website of the New York – New Jersey Trail Conference. In addition to hiking, swimming and picknicking are available in season. The park is traversed by a 3.5-mile section... More

Good hike for moderate trails. Very very rocky, do not twist your ankle. IT took us an hour or so, maybe less to get to the peak and back. Great views of all the houses and hills.

Great scenic views, beautiful clean park, great jogging paths..., in the summer, there is a great deal more to take advantage of.

Nice walk. You can walk the ridge from Rt 45 to 33. Cross 33 and walk down into the park. Not much more to be said. It has been closed since Hurricane Sandy.

We followed a winding uphil road to the parking lot. High Tor is a small park without walking trails. There is not much more than parking lot and a swimming pool.

High Tor was the name of Maxwell Anderson's Play - it was exciting to climb to the top and see the view.
