An idyllic spot. Take a walk around the rocks on the point, watch the fishermen angling for stripers, enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean, sit on a bench overlooking the beach, climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. An East End treasure.

It's a nice drive from the shops in Montauk out to the lighthouse. Beautiful outlook from the top of the lighthouse (just remember - no heels!)

Beautiful scenery year round. There is a rocky beach north of the left of the lighthouse and a more sandy beach with rocks and boulders to decrease erosion...south..to the right

When I adventure to Montauk Point, I always look right. When the waves are rolling in its is quite a site to see. Every time I leave to head back to NYC I always stop by to envision a picture which I capture in my head for harder days ahead. It keeps me level until the next time I'm out... More

Although we could not see much in the middle of a blizzard in early January, this lighthouse still looked regal and gorgeous. We plan to come back in the summertime, but this area, Montauk Point, is priceless any time of the year!

Most people plan to watch the ball drop at home or venture into NYC and freeze their tushes off but not us. A 3 day weekend and it is time to head out East, especially during the off season when the tourist are not swarming the small towns. For the second year in a row we all made the trek... More

A Christmas morning tradition! Always look forward to hot chocolate after a brisk walk on the beach but the gift shop was closed today. Disappointing. Otherwise always a great trip out to Montauk

After a hearty breakfast at Mr. John's on Montauk, bundle-up and head out to Camp Hero and Montauk Lighthouse. Tons of parking. Tons of trails. Picnic options. A Welcome Center. Beautiful location; great for a few hours of poking around. On-occasion one can see whales out in the sea at a distance. Great year-round; peaceful and pleasant off-season.
