Traveled with a friend on Labor day weekend. She had never seen the ocean before. Took LIRR all the way out. Easy to catch a cab from the town to the light house.

It was freezing cold with the Winter winds (bring isolating coats and warm hats) but nevertheless the view is breathtaking and the place is just charming. There is a large parking lot with restrooms and even a nice playground for the kids.

The lighthouse is about 5 to 6 miles from the town of montauk. That is quite a long walk.
