Seems like this attraction is being confused with the canal Discovery Center there is a separate Niagara County Historical Center and it is in a converted home in a residential area. It's small but it's cute and there is some decent information about the area there.

This is a great adaptation of a historic building in the downtown area with personable volunteers and an interesting story represented through the exhibits. The building includes the visitors' center as well. I enjoyed the visit.

There are five buildings that you wonder through, each with its own theme. We were given a self guided map that you return on your way out: be careful because the map needs updating and you will find yourself in front of locked passage ways. There is quite a range of eclectic pieces: toys, Native American beadwork, antique cars, medical... More

We continued our Lockport day trip with a visit to the Niagara County Historical Center. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly and helpful gentleman who described the five buildings we would visit and gave us a notebook with descriptions of each room. The center contains a great deal of material and artifacts from the early 19th... More

We did pop in here and grabbed a couple of maps and lollies. It has an interpretive centre upstairs where you feel like you are in a boat going through the locks. I didn't do the movie this time. It was $6 and we were short on time

We were waiting for a cruise up the locks and stopped here. We only had an hour so we moved along. There is so much to see here we wished we had more time. The amount of cool things here is hard to believe. Very well set up and a delight to see. If we are ever in the area... More

. We visited the Niagara County Historical Society which consists of five buildings. It was fun roaming around looking at the various exhibits. I also enjoyed conversing with the ladies in the genealogy library on the second floor of the main building. This site costs $4 per adult. There is a buy one admission get the second one free coupon... More

We actually only visited the Erie Canal Discovery Center, which is but one part of the larger History Center. If you're interested in the Erie Canal and the circumstances surrounding its construction, you'll likely be content to explore this well-conceived and nicely implemented exhibit area.

Had a very fun afternoon at the Discovery Center with my son and niece. Having grown up locally I loved sharing this with them and I learned a lot too! Thankfully my Aunt took us to view this gem!
