Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had been there from a tour company that conducts Niagara Tours- the views from the top were just awesome- the museum itself was very informative & had many displays that explained about Hydro-electric power generation- even though it was bit cold & rainy that day - it was totally worth it- don't miss this on the Niagara trip.

Easy parking possibilities, easy directions.
The displays for the kids at the top floor at very educational, although some were broken.
The expo in the lower floor are more for the grownups, with geology and history. The 12min film is very good.
The things I missed were more technical views, like drawings and cuts or views from the generator room (I'm an engineer geek).

When viewing the falls form the American side or from the Canadian side, you can't help but thinking of hydro-power. Here the story of capturing the power of the river is told. There is no charge for visiting the site, which is housed in a beautiful, modern building. I recommend this for adults and for kids. There are many hands on exhibits for kids. There is a nice, detailed short film downstairs that tells the story of the building of the power plant.During construction twenty workers died (I don't remember them mentioning that in the film). This is a short ans scenic drive up the Robert Moses Parkway from Niagara Falls, NY. After seeing the plant, read Robert Caro's book, "The Power Broker" about Robert Moses.

Brought the grandchildren aged 9 and 6. We stayed nearly two hours and didnt complete all exhibits. The kids loved it, stayed focused and engaged.
Had read reviews saying upgrades were needed and was pleasantly surprised that most displays were functional and seemed new.
Should mention that the staff were very engaged with visitors, obviously enjoying helping people.
Very glad we made this a stop on our trip to see the falls...AND its free!

Far too many people see Niagara Falls and far too few take advantage of this incredible free
opportunity. This experience is great for children and adults of all ages. This power plant
made nearby Buffalo, NY this first electrified city in the U.S. Not only does it continue to generate power for the Northeast U.S. and Canada, it helps reduce erosion which would have eventually
destroyed Niagara Falls. A "must see......"

Try to arrange your vacation to spend some time here. It is well worth the time. Great for families. They have a interesting history section downstairs. The views are incredible. The place is clean and futuristic looking with unique, interactive displays. I was impressed. It amazes me what a herculean effort it was to create this power plant. You can spend several hours here if you do everything and read all about the history which i find fascinating. And it's free.

Right on the Lower Niagara River at Niagara University, the Robert Moses Power Station is a great place to let kids learn about why the water is diverted away from Niagara Falls, USA and Canada.

Though I went in the winter and it was my first time it was time well spent. Great for the children. A lot of hands on interactive things to do. Great electrical lab and the short film about the history was excellent. I'm Definitely coming back. Oh and did O mention, it is FREE!

I think this is the same as the Niagara Power Project Visitors Centre - should probably be a combined entry in TripAdvisor.
If you were here years ago, you will be stunned by the change. Magnificent scenery complemented by educational and entertaining exhibits. Very interactive and a great rainy day activity. Not really suitable for babies or strollers, but the school aged children will have a blast. Plenty of free parking right outside the entrance, which is very friendly and welcoming. It's just past Niagara University if you are coming from the Falls. Lots to do to learn about the gorge and the power station. Leave yourself a couple of solid hours if you want to cover everything.

Firstly, I would like to give a very high review rating to the Discover Niagara Shuttle bus which helped us find this place. It runs every half hour or so, the length of the gorge between Niagara (USA) and Old Fort Niagara. It calls in at Whirlpool State Park (great views and walks), Lewiston (charming shops) and the Castellani Art Museum. We aren't into modern art, so we didn't go there - we missed their exhibition about the "Underground Railroad" which helped slaves escape to Canada. And it is all free!
Anyway, back to Robert Moses Power Station (aka Niagara Project Power Vista). From the moment you go in and are welcomed by very helpful staff, it is an absorbing experience. You get your own personalized badge, which helps you activate any number of interesting displays about power generation, management and the environment. We were there without kids, but it would appeal to all ages from, say 5 upwards. Educational and fascinating throughout. For me the high spot was seeing the original painting of the "discovery" (by Europeans that is) of the Falls that I had seen in reproduction many times throughout Niagara. Absolutely well worth visiting. It too was free, and more than that, at the end of the tour there was a vending machine selling snacks at sensible prices.
This attraction deserves to thrive!
