The best rooms ever in Bahirdar. The Guest house has fast free wifi, Balcony and Terrace that you can get great view to the Lake Tana.

We started the day by taking a boat trip over to the peninsula to see monasteries. After that, we then crossed to the corner where the source of the Blue Nile is, hoping to see crocodiles and hippos. Unfortunately they were all hiding - we were in the heat of the sun, after all - but we did see plenty of birds, including partially tame pelicans who were fed by a boatman. That was an experience! We later saw hippos at the source from our truck as we were crossing the bridge in the evening. It's just lovely being out on the lake.…

There are some birdlife and also hippos on/in the lake. One can also see fishermen fishing on the late but the best part is watching the sunset while on the lake.

I spent the morning exploring the lake with a group of people. I found my boat trip through Miki Belay. You can reach him on +251 918 017 446. He is very friendly and made sure I was safe and that I got a good price and not an inflated one, thanks Miki! The morning consisted of exploring the lake, seeing some hippos and visiting 2 monasteries. Getting a local guide for all the monasteries is not necessary, but I would recommend getting at least one so that you get a good idea of what it's all about :) All in all, a great morning.…
