In fact, my Uncle helped run and found this museum. My aunt was the First Volunteer Woman Firefighter in Kingston's history. My dad was a volunteer fireman in his youth in the area, and when I moved upstate to the Utica area at one time,...More

Interesting collection of Ulster County fire departments and fire equipment - well documented and displayed. Also have a wall honoring deceased volunteer firefighters with their names on plaques!

If you like old buildings and old stuff, this is a place for you. Fire equipment that illustrates the history of fire fighting. Engines, hose carts, photos, uniforms and tons of memorabilia. I'll be back for sure.

We went to the museum as a day trip. There was a mustering of historic fire equipment which made it even better. We have been to several fire museums and this was one of the nicest. It is also located within walking distance of the...More

Though compact this museum ranks right up there with many that we have visited. Great display of memorabilia including a firehouse 'pole'. There is a fairly steep stairway to the 2nd floor with no elevator available. The volunteers staffing the museum are chockfull of knowledge....More

There is a hoarded collection of local and regional fire fighting history - the people, the equipment and the culture. Staffed by retired fire fighters with lots to share about everything. Go upstairs and visit the old meeting hall with its collection of photos, documents,...More

We went to the museum with my four year old grandson and my eighty-plus old parents. There was enjoyment and all. See a great collection of firetrucks and memorabilia and lots of hands on activities for young children. Inexpensive and interesting.

While much of the museum is hands-off, there is plenty to engage young children and plenty to keep adults busy as well! My kids loved the interactive exhibits, and I was amazed by the sheer size of the place. What a gem.
