This was our first visit, and one we truly enjoyed. Not sure why living so close it took so many years to stop. The trails were very well maintained and they had good maps available throughout the woods. It was very quiet and peaceful in the woods, and the day offered perfect weather.

We came here on several mornings during our recent stay in Ithaca/Finger Lakes. Lovely, easy to follow trails in a variety of habitats enabled us to spot many different birds. The center also hosts free introductory bird watching tours conducted by volunteers on weekend mornings.

Had never been there before, but heard a lot about it from locals. Then a Family Member had a Special Dinner Gathering that was held there that we attended, and I must say that I was impressed! The weather was beautiful, so we ventured the walk on the trails. So glad to have finally had the experience of going there.

A simply awesome experience for those interested in birds from any and all aspects. The Lab does great science, and has a wonderful history, and the setting is a real treat for birdwatchers, with Sapsucker Woods including many habitats that host a large variety of species. Be sure to take a tour of the Lab to see behind closed doors... More

If you like birds, you'll love sapsucker woods! If you can't go yourself, at least "visit" the bird feeder online! You won't be sorry you did. Beautiful spot.

My boyfriend and I came here on a whim and it was one of my favorite places in Ithaca. The woman working the desk (I am so sorry I didnt get her name) was so nice and helpful, she hooked up a presentation about the Ornithology Lab and answered questions. We took in a short video about the birds of... More

I can't believe I used to live here and never went. Now back visiting and wish I had gone years ago. I suspect things have changed and improved but you WILL enjoy your time here.

Okay, I actually lived on Sapsucker Woods Road when I was a student in 1971-72. So I'm biased. It remains a truely beautiful area and a delight for birders.

Hi Gary, Wow! So glad you made it back to visit. I can only imagine some of the changes that Sapsucker Woods has seen in the past 45 years. Glad you can still appreciate the beauty :) More

It was exciting to visit the home of the apps we are continually connected with. In the building there was not a whole lot for us - sound lab, mural, a bit of art, small gift shop. Most of the attraction is the trails, and they are exceptionally accessible and maintained, and they go through many habitats so they attract... More

Hi Cararro, Thanks for the review. You make a good point about many of our resources being available online, like the Bird Cams, the Bird Guide, and the Audio and Video Library. In the past year or so we have started a push to bring more activities and exhibits into the Visitor Center at Sapsucker Woods, beginning with the murals... More

Although I probably see more birds on my daily hikes here at home, this was an amazing experience. I'd wanted to visit the bird lab for years, so was pleased to wander the lush trails and savour the birdsong. Great spot for kids provided they respect the tranquility of the trails.
